         The strange creature kept its gaze skyward, watchful of something beyond the sight of the small human before it. The shadows moved ever closer, cutting deeper into the stark monochrome background as though it meant to devour them both in its roaring tide.

A snap ate though the silence in a sickening succession as the towering creature righted itself, and fixed its haunting gaze upon the once source of light in the suffocating abyss. The door had opened--and, just as it had opened, the door would soon shut.

"Turn back..." The wind seemed to whisper a warning, a warning to the smaller child about the mysterious horrors that lie behind the oak doors. A final warning, in fact, as the only sounds heard afterward was the regular, deep wind blowing through the overgrown, dead foliage, and a distant wolf howling in the distance. Although, one with keen ears can hear the unlively activity behind the walls, a party, people talking amidst a waltz, before fading back into a pipe organ, and finally... nothing.

Numerous spectators watched from statues, bushes, and their own graves, all in their own invisible shroud. One of the tombstones opened it's eyes behind their back, the tombstone belonging to the mansion's psychic medium, and through regions beyond, she could tell, that this child has been through a monstrous situation, stranded in the underworld like a canary in a mine. Why they think it's a good idea to waltz to a place that is as equally dangerous, the ghosts didn't know for sure, perhaps morbid curiosity like all other children. All that's left is to step through the front doors, and the terror can begin.

*A chilling breath runs down your shoulders.

*Fear is in the air.

“Listen, kid, if you want some quality noodles that are actually instant, I gotta recommend Little Prince brand: it’s authentic, fairly priced, and easy enough for just about anyone to cook.” She eyed the noodles the kid had been trying to make, curling her nose up at the still hard block of ramen. “What brand even is that? I don’t think I’ve ever seen that language on the wrapper before.”
