trying to gauge how active the community still is before i set myself to returning so, hello!! this is an independent asriel dreemurr blog, most of you must’ve remembered me as goldbloomed. the undertale nostalgia has Hit & i’d like to return ( despite being neck deep in classes ashdkdha ) so uhh hi, come drop by & say hewwo??

you’ve been lonely ? you were embraced in a hug \ one with the sun. you of no idea what the sun felt like \ if the burning of its passion was of love. you only knew of winter \ a blizzard of darkness that held no warmth , no joy. there was no life that grew \ only death & the fleeting warmth left. each vibrant color you once saw \ soaked in darkness & painted to match an abyss you’ve yet to confide in. yet all the same your heart of spring \ you were no sun , but there was a warmth ( a light only you could provide \ in spring there was only renewal \ there was a blossoming of flowers \ there was life entering a never ending cycle ). so when you cling onto the other \ you think you finally understood ( why icarus fell in love with the sun ).
❝ you won’t… leave like everyone else… right ? i’m sorry if that sounds selfish. i’m just tired of being alone. ❞

a deep ache festers in asriel’s chest upon hearing the quiet despair / the lingering loneliness / the yearning for compassion he gave ( but never received ) so evidently laced in soft - said cadence. it’s a hurt he so understands, one that has even his fractured heart cannot help but urge him to reach out & comfort the lonely soul.
❛ no... no. ❜ it comes first as an uncertain whisper, & a second time but with determined conviction. asriel knows it best of all, the feeling of wanting to do more to help, but sometimes the most another needs may just be the comfort of a friend. he smiles forlorn but sincere, a paw moving to pat the other’s back & ground him to this moment. ❛ you’ve done so much already. more than you know. thank you... for being good. ❜

asriel can “ talk ” to plants
by talking i mean. he has an affinity with them because of his time as flowey. it's not so much talking, it's more of... an understanding between himself & plants? he has a tendency to talk to them, he'll know what names of plants are as if they were old friends, he can ask them to do things for him, heck tendency is you'll even see plants leaning towards his direction as if he were sunlight, but that's only if they like him?? Yeah

ACT: THINK ABOUT GOING BACKWARDS, BACKWARDS, BACKWARDS
It’s human to look back. It’s human to recall fond times, bad times, and mundane instances with an understanding that it’s passed. Things happen. Sometimes they’re without reason, they’re injustice, or are good but they happen. It isn’t human to go back. One shouldn’t return to fix things because most humans can’t manage such a feat. It isn’t right for Frisk to go back either. It isn’t right for Frisk to change things due to a mistake.
What’s done is done and the only way they can move is forward. Frisk won’t use the great and terrible power to reverse the clock. It’s a tempting power but great powers must be handled with care. Frisk’s sure one must be responsible with them.
Reaching out to Asriel Frisk squeezes his paw with their fingers and nods up at him. “Mhm,”they agree. After releasing him Frisk suggests, “Start now? From here this is the beginning.”
asriel doesn’t remember the last time he was touched. ( but his last memory of being held was when he was fading / fading / fading, desperately clinging to mother & father, & then—- well, it is a story we all know the ending to. ) he nearly flinches away from their reach, but their hands are gentle & kind, hands almost as small as his own paws, & their words are like light. there’s a throb where his soul had once been, chest tightening with emotions, so many emotions. he’s missed this so much.
❛ ah... ❜ tears well in his eyes & he’s far too late to stop them, arm raised to rub his eyes with the sleeves of his sweater, but they don’t seem to stop. ❛ i’m doing it again. ‘m sorry. i ... ❜ he looks up at frisk, smiling with hope, eyes still watering. ❛ is it... is it really okay? after everything i’ve done? ❜ can you return to the beginning even without a reset?

THEY SAY YOU ONLY KNOW HOW MUCH YOU LOVE SOMEONE WHEN THEY AREN’T THERE, and as one would have it, k/ris had learned this lesson early into the second month without their big brother and best friend by their side. so many nights spent staring at the empty bed on the other side of the room, so many nightmares that couldn’t fade away in the presence of his light. they feared putting their soul back in their body, as with it came tears like a waterfall that begged to be released. ( at least without a soul they wouldn’t have to worry about that… )
THIS MESSED UP RITUAL HAD HAPPENED EVERY NIGHT FOR MONTHS, forcing themself to put their soul back into their body so they wouldn’t die, getting overwhelmed with the emotions and almost crying over a/sriel, then going to sleep. wake up and tear their soul out for the day, go through the school day without saying a word, get home, and repeat. and soon enough, their mother say something about a/sriel visiting tomorrow. was it… really so soon ? it had felt like an eternity of mundaneity, yet now that it was almost over, it felt too soon. was a/sriel gonna be different ? would he hate them now ? would he realize he was better off without them there ? it was scary. terrifying. they couldn’t sleep well that night.
AND THE NEXT MORNING, this time with the soul of another person forced into their body, they saw him. their big brother, there in the doorway with their mother greeting him and saying how k/ris was upstairs, getting interrupted by her son running fowards to hug k/ris, spinning them around in his arms and saying his hello’s and how are you’s. and they couldn’t do anything in his grasp for a little while, simply taking in the moment. he… missed them too ? he didn’t hate them ? a part of them knew this, but it still felt so unreal to have it confirmed in such a way. and with a soul, no matter if it was theirs or not, they could feel a hundred feelings overwhelm them all at once. and…
THEY SMILED, laughing a little as they dig their fingers into the fabric of a/sriel’s jacket. tears were falling, hiccups and laughter melting together. their grip on him tightens as they buried their face into his shoulder, and they’re finally able to speak just a little.

he sways left and right to an unknown song. if he closed his eyes, the flower would blend in with the rest of the golden blooms right beneath the patch of sunlight save for the telltale grin upon his face. not that he would stay hidden for long, itching to do anything to stave off the boredom. but he looks at his past form, stuck in this limbo of existence and barely holding onto what he calls “himself”.
✱ you wanna be with THEM, right? ✱ there’s nothing stopping you. ✱ maybe, if you’re with them for long enough… ✱ you’ll feel love again. just maybe.
he misses them dearly / achingly / despairingly. he misses them all. the denizens of a once lost kingdom, toriel, asgore, even the human. here in these ruins where only forgotten sunlight shines, the way out seems so close, so in reach. he has the choice to leave... but. asriel looks at the talking flower, regarding him with a melancholic smile. ❛ it’s not as bad as you think. i’m better off here, i think. ❜ i can’t endanger them all again.
a tilt of his head, hazel eyes curious. ❛ ... maybe it’s you who misses them. ❜

❛ ... no. ❜ it comes as a whisper, breathed so quietly in this cavern of golden blossoms almost as if the flowers had said it in a soft breeze. but there’s a certainty / finality to one uttered syllable, & asriel is sure of it. no matter the things they’ve gone through together ( perhaps because of each other ) —- ❛ i could never hate you. a bit... scared of you, i will admit. but never hate. nothing’s changed, chara. you’re still family. ❜ you’re still you.
