Now, what was the real fear that was going through everyone's head? Renata just couldn't understand it. People wearing oxygen reserve masks, panicking and whining about their next meal. She ate small meals and breathed the way that was instructed on the announcements, but it wasn't like it was such a hard ordeal. Sure, the idea of being stuck in the middle of space to just slowly starve or suffocate was a fear, but... it wasn't as bad as everyone made it out to be.

She wandered the halls slowly, wandering through to find something to do or someone to talk to. "Hello?" the blonde asked when she entered the final room, noticing someone there.

Renata walked with the man to the observation deck slowly, trying to reserve all the energy that she had. She felt sluggish and slow — not realizing it was due to not being able to charge herself in the shutdown. She looked over to him, trying to see if he was struggling with his breathing at all. Everyone else was, so he probably was too.

“You know, I haven’t been to the observation deck before. Space kind of freaks me out.”

Renata stood at the corner of the holiday party, not sure what she was doing there. She wasn’t a huge fan of the people there, but — hell, it was a lot larger than the cramped room she lived in with all the roommates. The blonde didn’t drink, but she was going to just interact with everyone she could.

“I know, I know. I’m not really the best at conversation,” she said, walking to the closest person she saw. “But I’m gonna try. Hi.”

Admittedly, Lionel hadn’t spent much time perusing the Visitor until the announcement came out of the initial malfunction. He wasn’t immediately unsettled, having had spent nineteen years of his life on Earth quelling any anxiety that rose in his household. But it was something about suffocating or starving; this slow, burning, unhindered death, that kept him farther away from his rational thinking. He paced in a lounge area, though he wasn’t sure why. 

Lionel had sworn to himself not to drink on their journey. He wanted to be sober until they reached Abellio, for no reason in particular, maybe just to raise a glass to his old lover as he began his new life - something cheesy romantic as that. But ambling into a conveniently placed bar outside the lounge, he ordered a drink he couldn’t remember the name of and took down three shots of it. As he brought his head up from the bottom of his glass, he noticed another entity in the room, and suddenly he felt a rush of embarrassment accompanied with an odd swell of relief.

“. . . Hello there.” greeted Lionel, a slur characterizing his speech as he fell back onto the couch in mild distress.

She didn’t want to seem obsessed or clingy, but she had her reasons for seeking him out, dammit. There wasn’t another soul on the Visitor that could relate to her in such a way. Sure, Caroline wasn’t clear on whether or not he necessarily felt useless, or maybe even disregarded, but nonetheless she could vent in a semi-humored conversation and shoot her shot before she suffocated or starved. 

There was a lot in her path; warning signals that sharpened in her ears down certain corridors, warding her away, or posters prohibiting her access into other areas of the ship. Eventually she doubled under her anxiety that tripled with each passing minute. She made a b-line for her suite, not even finding the energy to carry herself to the bar for a drink. As she pulled her hair back to relief her face of the loose strands, she stepped past an occupied room. Her boots skidded to a halt and she tilted her chin over her shoulder to peer down the once illuminated hallway to finally spot him. 

“Fuck off. This is where you’ve been?” she breathed out.
