RE : THE CREATION OF ROCKY .
to whose genius do we credit the creature ? dr . frank n. furter is , by no means , stupid . in terms of intelligence , he is quite literally a genius . however , it is a genius that is rarely applied to the extent of capability . despite many hours of toiling away in the lab ( scrawling formulas across tile in lipstick , overseeing design & the selection of body parts , & so on ) , riff raff was the brains behind rocky ––– if only because frank was incapable of focusing on anything for more than five minutes at a time .
the doctor has grand ideas , & even grander visions . he would figure out how to achieve them on his own eventually , if left to his own devices ––– but with riff raff at his disposal to do most of the heavy lifting , he didn’t bother .
how did it happen ? the project of rocky began with the tryst between eddie & columbia . when furter found out that his two human lovers had betrayed him , the idea to create his own playmate with faithfulness totally ingrained came to the doctor . in his rage of his unfortunate discovery , frank stuck eddie with a transylvanian sedative ––– enabling the doctor to cut into the delivery boy’s skull & steal half his brain . eddie’s body was stored in the deep freeze , just in case they needed other organs ( his bike was put in later , when frank grew tired of seeing it on the grounds ) .
tensions ran high in the castle throughout the entire process . shouting , screaming , clattering , & clanging could often be heard from the lab . frank would often return to his master bedroom in a fit of huffiness & slamming doors . riff raff would often return from the lab with new scars . needed parts would often come from the denton graveyard ––– or , the slaking of frank’s rage . meals were usually silent , thrumming with unspoken uneasiness . it was a tumultuous time in the frankenstein place , until the convention began to creep closer & closer . then , everyone became so focused on preparation that the friction between the castle members simmered to an almost - neutrality .
