I've been seeing a lot of discussion around Shrek 5 and the animation style.
On one hand it is hard to revamp the animation of a much loved franchise - its always going to look bad because its different.
The other is they are actively ruining the charm of the original animation and here's why I think they are:
The characters were changed in ways that make them look foreign not better.
They made his eyes bigger, his nose longer, lips thinner and his brows darker. One of these changes might go unnoticed but all of them together creates too much change and people are noticing.
Donkey used to look like a donkey in that his joint were stiffer in how they moved mimicking actual donkey movements better. They removed his iconic eyelashes and made his shape more "cartoony".
And the worst offender Fiona. She used to look like Cameron Diaz (her actor) and she had more realistic features. They had no problem having wrinkles on Shrek's face but god forbid Fiona have a philtrum (the indent above the lip). They have airbrushed her!
They "improved" the animation by removing small details that make these characters stand out. The fine details that make the characters feel like themselves.

Okay so we need to talk about the Thrilling Three as to why they disbanded. Since it's been on my mind for a while and honestly it's been nagging at me none stop.
So while listening to Gazerbeam, Apogee, and Phylange NSA audio files it got me wondering as to why they disbanded.
It was grief, grief and not allowing Gee or Phylange time to mourn Dynaguy as he died whilst getting his cape snag. (Which what did he get snag on?! not once have they clarified that his cape got snag on something, unlike thunderhead, stratogale, meta-man,splashdown who we all know how they died with their capes because fuck I forgot how brutal the first movie was when Edna was recounting their deaths)
But anyways, just listening to Phylange file, hearing him talk about the Thrilling Three being disbanded he felt remorse because Gazerbeam apologised, the thing is he said he doesn't blame him and Apogee pushed it and instead of pushing back or at the very least getting to know him well...That's all grief. Instead of them confiding to Dicker or their agents about not wanting a new member of the Thrilling Three let alone allowing them time to heal as they not only lost their leader but also a close friend of theirs.
You need to allow grief to pass through and the NSA chucked Gazerbeam at them at the worst timing too, so of course Apogee would take it the worse, they didn't allow them to grieve and that grief turned into resentment against Gazerbeam, when she should have shifted it over towards either Dicker or The NSA or her Agent. I don't hate Apogee, don't get me wrong it's just neither she or Phylange had the time to mourn, it's like have a stuffed toy get replaced or losing something and instead of allowing the person to mourn, instead of confiding Gazerbeam they held it in, instead of speaking to him they waited, until they decided to disband the Thrilling Three.
If the NSA gave them the chance to mourn would things have been different? I believe so yes.
Yes: because it would have gave them time to mourn, time to heal, but moreover time to adjust to Gazerbeam being the new team leader of The Thrilling Three. And if they were to disbanded the team, it wouldn't have been on bad blood.
Also the NSA shouldn't have thrown Gazerbeam into a team of people grieving the loss of a friend.
Of course Apogee would have a ton of resentment towards Gazerbeam but she shouldn't have taken it out on him and as for Phylange don't get me wrong he isn't innocent either.
Even though Phylange was grieving in his own way Apogee used her anger and grief against him, they weren't thinking straight but what happened happen.
But the whole thing could have been avoided if they were given time to grieve and mourn instead of slapping a replacement in their faces, and yes I did indeed use the word replacement. Because that what happened, in their eyes Gazerbeam was Dynaguy's replacement a replacement, although could be in Apogee's eyes, he was trying to be Dynaguy when in fact he wasn't trying to be or replace him.
I don't know how long the NSA allowed either Apogee or Phylange to grief, let alone told them to dust themselves off while finding a new replacement.
What should have been done was a slow process, even though they already knew each other Dicker or one of their agents should have been their voice of reason, telling them that they wouldn't be going on any missions until they gave both Gee and Phylange the proper amount of time to mourn. While they looking for a new member of the Thrilling Three, but THEY should have been able to choose on who they wanted as a leader.
Hell if they wanted Gazerbeam to be the leader great, but that say should have been discussed with them. Again if they picked Gazerbeam to be the new leader of their team, it would have been a get to know each other moment, as awkward as hell it would have been, it'd probably help them, instead of making both Gee and Phylange feel like they were the lesser one of the team.
But also allowed Gazerbeam to give both Gee and Phylange the time to mourn since the whole " internal conflict among the members of the team." Should have been avoided entirely.
Or the other option they should have told Dicker or their agents that the Thrilling Three didn't need a new leader and they're choosing to disband, because have a new leader would be hard on them and they wouldn't want things to be awkward let alone grieving in silence.
Many, many things could have gone differently but instead we got the outcome that happen.
Over all the whole thing was tragedy from start to finish. All because of the lack of communication but also not allowing the people to grief the loss of a member.
Now don't get me wrong I'm at least somewhat positive that Apogee didn't like Gazerbeam at all, but still not the point since like I said the whole thing could have been avoided if the NSA or Dicker allowed Apogee and Phylange to choose the new Dicker of the Thrilling Three once they were done mourning Dynaguy or at the very least Gee And Phylange telling them the Thrilling Three is no more.
All in all it's just a tragic moment, which again was avoidable.
OK,so do some of you remember when I isolated some of atom's voiceclaim's voice lines?
Well I got curious and started doing some research on the voice claim in question (oh the sweet jello patootie that seduced my curiosity until i could not- not look up the game he was from).AND OH DEAR WHAT HAVE I DONE,I NOW AM PART OF YET ANOTHER FANDOM...even if I can't play the game yet heh... (why is drifter so- okay let's stop here.)
Anyway have my Deadlock oc's first design.
I don't know if i'll post more about them, but i wanted to atleast show off their design even if i don't have the energy to talk in details about my (COMPLETLY plot-hole-less trust,TRUST!!!) Lore for them right now. Id also love to, like, make a model animations and stuff but my weak laptop would explode- ah the sweet sweet side of being poor.
