Sydney Driscoll
As we all know, Sydney's character has become quite shady quite quickly. A little too quickly to have just arrived in Rosewood not that long ago. Shana was that way as well, but she had a connection to Alison. So how is Sydney connected to this?
The most common theory is that Sydney is related to Jenna in some way. I mean, you saw them together with their sunglasses on. Looked like a little Jenna 2.0. This goes along with what Marlene said in an interview. The idea for this character has been around for a few seasons and they were dead set on casting Chloe Bridges for the role "we specifically wrote some of this just for this actress, and you'll understand why as you get to know her character."
The fact that this is a character they've planned on using seasons ago and that they specifically had to have Chloe Bridges lets us know off the bat that Sydney is far more important than what the show is trying to lead us to believe. I have a few more theories that branch off from this importance.
She acted as though she was an outsider and befriended both Paige and Emily and I believe it was to keep tabs on them. Mona wanted Paige, but could tell her loyalties may still lie with Emily. Emily was always the closest to Alison, so the best way to try and judge what's happening with Alison is to study a less convincing liar like Emily.
She may be connected to Bethany Young. You'll notice that Sydney came to Rosewood right around the time Alison came back. That can't be a coincidence.
Know all the theories running around about Chris Cavanaugh? The Chris Cavanaugh that was going to the same school as Jenna for the visually impaired? The same reasoning that leads me to believe that Sydney is related to Jenna could also be applied to believing that she's related to Toby. Could she be Chris Cavanaugh? It could still explain her loyalties to Jenna and the fact that they appear so similar in style. Being related through marriage and knowing her from that special school. There's been talk about there being a twin sister from those working on the show. No one ever said they were identical twins and it seems easy enough for the well connected youth of Rosewood to fake their identities.
The introduction of Sara Harvey's character has never sat right with me. Her body has never been found and the way her friends talked about her gave you the impression that she was very similar to Alison. One of their friends didn't come to meet with the Liars - Avery. They said that Avery didn't take it very well and locked herself up in her room a lot. That Avery believed that Sara was still alive and out there somewhere. Avery was the last person to see her.
When they spoke about Avery, I started to wonder if she's like a Spencer. Was she digging for clues? Was all that time locked away spent on trying to figure out what happened to Sara? Is Sydney Avery?
Whoever Sydney is, she's definitely a character we should be keeping our eye on.
