#delirium#1979#slasher#video nasty#american cinema#peter maris#richard yalem#Turk Cekovsky#Debi Chaney#Terry TenBroek#Barron Winchester#bob winters#Garrett Bergfeld#Nick Panouzis#Harry Gorsuch#Chris Chronopolis#Lloyd Schattyn#Jack Garvey#Mike Kalist#Myron Kozman#Pat Knapko#probably only of interest to those poor fools (like me) who are interested in finding every film that ended up on the fabled dpp video#nasties list in the 80s. like several other films on the list‚ this probably didn't deserve it: sure it's a little horrible and kind of#misogynistic (like most nasties) but there were contemporary mainstream action and thriller films that were stronger. whatever; as to this#film‚ it's supposedly the result of one film (a stalk and slasher) being abandoned and the footage rolling into another (urban conspiracy#thriller). it isn't hard to see the joins (the two plotlines don't really intersect outside of one or two dialogue references) and the end#result is definitely uneven and a little flabby but it isn't the worst I've seen. the conspiracy element is the better filmed of the two‚#and the very ending is surprisingly effective but it can't quite excuse some major failings. most notably‚ flashback scenes set in Vietnam#clearly shot on an abandoned lot in the US and‚ most bizarrely to a uk viewer‚ set to Approaching Menace aka the bit of library music that#found immortality as the Mastermind theme tune.
