Weekly Funding & People Roundup: VR Companies The Void and Epic Games Join Disney’s Accelerator Program, Callum Underwood Leaves Oculus for Indie Gaming Company, and Eva Hoerth Leaves VREAL to Explore Other Options
1) The Void, known in the VR industry for impressive location-based VR experiences, and Epic Games, the creators of the Unreal Engine platform that many developers use to build both VR and traditional games, have joined Disney’s Accelerator. These companies will now have access to support and mentorship from the Disney leadership team, and could potentially partner with Disney to make joint products. Read more here.
2) Callum Underwood, Sr. Developer Relations Strategist at Oculus, has decided to leave at the end of the month and join small gaming company, Raw Fury. Underwood is another person that left after 3.5 years (perhaps the vesting schedule) -- this is months after Palmer Luckey, Chris Dycus, and Anna Sweet left the company. Read more here.
