The squad commands the player is able to issue in Halo 5: Guardians are meant to allow a larger range of tactical play during each firefight, evoking a very different feel than the other games, where the player is expected to mow through hordes of enemies solo. This reinforces the central themes of the game, while also allowing each mission to be more or less difficult depending on how necessary your teammates are to a given firefight, and thus the game is always giving the player more options on how to approach combat.
