12/31/2003: New Year's Eve
I'm back home in Jacksonville. And yeah, tonight we actually have something planned.
I got a used video camera for Christmas. Casting for my short film will be on Monday. Also, I got a few gift cards from a range of generous family members, so now I have a total of $145 in gift cards and $90 in cash! (RICH RICH RICH.) The only problem is, I don't have any way to get to where I need to be to spend this money. My mom and stepdad will probably still forbid me from going to the mall until NEXT holiday, and I'm still grounded from the computer so I can't even shop online. What are they so afraid of?
We have a neighborhood block party to go to in a while, but I think I'll walk back home before midnight so I can watch TV.
I think 2004 will be better spent alone.
12/25/2003: ¡Feliz Navidad!
Last night my dad took us to a Christmas Party at Miriam's. (She cooks at the restaurant.) That was when my Alcohol Consumption Ban from a few days ago expired, I guess.
Around dinner, Miriam's 17-year-old son Joaquin and I attacked the punch bowl. They mistakenly put it next to the kid's table, meaning the teenagers. My dad told me to "ten cuidado" around Joaquin but he was nice. Besides, it's not like I'm gonna date him! We actually had a full conversation in Spanglish. He's really hot; he has blue eyes, black hair and a pretty smile. Miriam's family moved from Uruguay a couple of years ago, so they're still working on their English. Joaquin said he liked the way I spoke English, and offered me some beer. I declined the offer politely, sticking to my glass of punch. He kissed me by the end of the night-- three times! That was the best part of the party. You know Latins, we're very generous with our kisses.
Anyway, I feel fine today. I didn't drink enough to get a hangover or anything... But I'd expect a shunning from my health teacher when we come back! Hahaha.
Merry Christmas.
