Questo è il periodo dell'anno in cui divento letteralmente un'organizzatrice di eventi Natalizi:
My plan this year has been to make the most stress free (don't shout at me for using this word so early) christmas ever.
I am extremely upset over the lack of spooky halloween happenings, we always have a halloween party. This year as you know, has made that impossible. The lockdowns need to be followed, that is the most important thing this year. We must all keep safe and healthy.
Due to the lock downs and lack of halloween, I have decided to begin Christmas preparations early, very early.
I have always been a last minute shopper and would go through the mad rush to buy everything I could and spend more money then I needed to spend.
This meant I had no time to spend with my family over Christmas. So I decided that will not happen again.
I started at the end of September, just looking at all the online shops, seeing what there was to buy, not particularly looking for anything. Definitely not thinking of Christmas just yet.
I found an amazing site called brand alley, they sold real designer clothes, shoes, accessories and home wear items. All at a discount. All these items are out of season stock but nothing is damaged or fake. I thought yep this is great.
When I was looking at the home section I saw Christmas decorations for sale. That's when I thought, well I have nothing else to do, I should start on Christmas shopping early.
Over the next week I began saving items on lots of online sites that I wanted to buy my family and friends for Christmas, and waited for sales. I bought a few bits on brand alley there and then as they are already at a discounted price. By the 1st of October, I had bought everyone's Christmas presents and spent no more then €550 on presents for 9 people. Everything being brand names things such as jo malone perfume, kate spade jewelry and a Ralph Lauren coat.
In the first 2 weeks of October I bought 4 Christmas decorations, also from brand alley. Two wreaths, a garland and this fantastic post box.
(please ignore the mess around it )
Another thing I bought, but not for a decoration or present, was a Christmas planner. I recommend this if you are like me and leave things until the last minute and then forget what you need to buy, who to send things too, recipes and budgets.
Since the journal arrived, I have been slowly filling it with every job that needs to be done for Christmas.
All that I have left to do now is food and putting up the Christmas decorations. The decorations will go up for the 1st of December.
Food is another thing that causes massive amounts of stress in my house as well as spending an unnecessary amount of money.
This year anything that can be cooked and baked in advance and frozen, will be. Over the Christmas period we usually buy alot of ready made things to make small buffet type meals. These all add up in price. This year I have decided I will make it all and freeze it, so it can be taken out when we need it and cost a lot less. Plus we will know exactly what goes into the food.
Any baking has always been done by me anyway, but I have made up plans for lots to be done beforehand and frozen. Anything that must be made fresh or can't be frozen will be made the day before it's needed. Out of everything that must be freshly made there are only two. So I have cut down the work by massive amount.
My younger sister and I have made plans to decorate a gingerbread house (something we have never done before), making and decorating cookies as well as watching lots of Christmas movies.
Come Christmas dinner, all vegetables and stuffing with have been prepared the night before. All that needs to be done the next day is cook everything. This lowers the amount of washing up to be done, as well as the rush of preparing all the food. So we will be able to spend Christmas day together.
Why am I doing all this? My older sister and my brother in law are coming over for Christmas, for two weeks. She will be very close to the birth of her baby boy. I want this year to be a relaxing and happy Christmas that we can all enjoy.
We always end up rushing though Christmas and never actually get to stop and enjoy the day and all the time spent together. This year we will be able to, as well as do things we have never done before such as the gingerbread house, the cookies and even have a Christmas Eve box.
I recommend everyone who celebrates Christmas or any holiday you celebrate over December, to get all the preparation done in November or before and enjoy December.
Hope you enjoyed reading this and get preparing 🎄🎅🤶⛄🦌
