practise dinner
Charles woke up to a strange ruckus coming from across the hall. Pulling his wheelchair to the bedside he noticed he was in the mentioned bed alone and checked the clock. Four in the morning was a very odd time to be up, he thought, but realised who he was talking about. He rolled his tired eyes and climbed into the cold, metallic lap of the wheelchair and pushed it back with his hand. It was good that all the other bedrooms were in the other wing of the mansion, it would be a shame to have to explain what is going on to a hundred headed group of tired teenagers. He strolled his way to the end of the hall, but had to stop and cover his mouth at the sight that followed. His hands tightly on his mouth, keeping him from gasping out loud, not only at the mess but the maker of this mentioned mess, he continued, but stayed still non visible to the man standing in the middle of the kitchen.
Erik was standing between the kitchen island and the stove with a concentrated look on his face, a bunch of pans and kettles were floating calmly a little above his shoulders and he was browsing through a cooking book with a furious pace. Most of the cupboards were wide open and their insides spread out all over the kitchen floor, them ending up there must've been the noise Charles woke up to. Erik had the oven on and two kettles were brewing on the stove, and the kitchen smelled, well, odd. The smell was a strange mixture of burnt something and turkey. As soon as he thought turkey Charles realised what Erik was doing and the smile on his face widened if possible. He turned the wheels a few times to get to the door of the kitchen and knocked on the doorframe.
"What's for breakfast?" Charles smiled raising his eyebrow as Erik turned to face him and looked awkward from head to toe. The pans and kettles settled to the stove and the rest fell on the wooden floor clanking and clinking against each other. Erik froze from the noise and looked like he had forgot everything else as he'd seen his love. He quickly cleaned them into their cupboards with only a swift fling of a hand and turned back to Charles.
"Don't worry, old friend, I applaud your try," Charles said apologetically as he pushed himself closer to him but Erik made the distance up himself.
"You weren't supposed to see this, Charles," he said and brushed his hand on Charles' cheek leaning to his face. Charles smiled and took a hold of his hand. "I was practising, it's christmas soon and there's nothing I can give you," Erik continued and pointed at the oven.
"I thought a meal would be of your liking." Charles held Erik’s hand tighter and breathed out calmly, his eyes closed. He felt so happy and loved as he whispered to him.
"Oh, Erik. You shouldn't worry about things like that. You being here peacefully by my side is the best gift I could have hoped for."
MERRY CHRISTMAS christmasromanoff HAVE ALL THE NICE THINGS AND GOOD FOOD ♥
