Roland Poulin-Thresholds.  Another of the sculptor's pieces investigating the way our own mortality infects our sense of balance and movement.  Unlike Richard Serra, Poulin in comfortable with playing not just with our sense of rhythm in the physical, but tying that to iconography and mythology, the way lyrics are tied to melody in a song.  The off balance cross in this piece affects our personal sense of balance (in part because it is a similar scale to our bodies) but additionally cannot help but tie itself to the Crucifix, and our personal relationship to Christ and Christianity, whatever that might be.  (The sculptor himself was raised Catholic.)  Because of the dexterity of his craft, Poulin gets us to oscillate between something visceral and something spiritual, enhancing our understanding of both.
