i haven’t finished the new season of umbrella academy yet but i’m convinced that Christopher used to be a person as well, but died on one of their missions. but since that’s happened before with the original ben, reginald knew he’d need a fail save on preserving his kids soul and power if one were to pass away like ben. and lo and behold christopher did, so reginald put his soul and power into the cube fail save he made in case of this very moment and preserved the power of his child that he so desperately held dear.
