One of the works I liked the most at the Whitney Museum today were the banners hanging from the 6th and 1st floor roofs. In particular, I like the “STOP” banner on the left edge of the picture above. By taking a government sign/symbol and subverting it to communicate the intent of the artist, the artist is in many ways engaging in “tactics” as discussed earlier in class to subvert “strategy”.

One of the realities most impressed upon me at the 9/11 Memorial Museum today was the magnitude of the tragedy. Having grown up with 9/11 such a critical component of the nation’s consciousness, but not actually remembering it myself, it was difficult for me to internalize the true scale of the tragedy. Seeing massive pieces of the remains of the tower - such as this antennae part from the top of one of the towers - and hearing the stories of New Yorkers that day really made the event much more real and tangible in my mind.

Found Hamilton and his friend, Washington, in Central Park and downtown today. “History has its eyes on you”.

Evan Hansen: the most incredible show I think I’ve ever seen. I thought the relative simplicity of the set contrasted with the grand, opulent set of The Great Comet last night. I really appreciated the simplicity, as it allowed the focus to remain on the actors where it should rightly be, thanks to their fantastic performances.
