Oh but what for? This bird’s good for now-n…nothing but sitting there pretty and proper… Yes, nothing more. I’m aware it’s a little peculiar of a bird, mhm, but… surely yet another kind of… woodpecker… would be appreciated, no? Not enough holes in trees, apparently… The industry calls for such, as they say!…

Still, I suppose it’s usefulness amongst even woodpeckers is dubious. Poor bird can’t peck a tree to save its life! But it can put on a show alright, something about doubling moxie… This thing’s tail feathers can put people in trances, I swear it— though I could never understand why. They’re pretty, yes, but… Oh, perhaps I look at them too often. It is still my… pet.
