Part 1 here.

Genre(s): fantasy, sci-fi, horror, mystery.
If there is something you need to know about Chromatika is that it’s run by immortals.
At the top of pecking order are High Immortals: celestial and nature spirits, eldritch ones (read: monsters of divine origins) and, those who are a complicated case of being both spirit/monster creatures. Because you know, marriage and children happen.
Then go lesser immortals. Basically, those who do less important job and those who were uplifted from your old baseline mortals.
Then we have ye olde mortals. Usually those are either regulars here or simply tourists.
Below those are constructed beings.
While high immortals can be and sometimes are subjects of worship, for most part they are closer to aristocracy or, at least, we can say that they are sapients whose opinions are held in a very regard by the rest of Chromatika’s population.
Most of lesser immortals make their personal armies, trusted gentlefolk, spies and in case of Repairment Bureau, it’s the only way it can function because only those with several centuries of experience and several centuries worth of knowledge can understand local magitech well enough to run it.
In some case, however, line between high and lesser immortals is blurred. And R/B stands exactly ON this line.
Speaking of immortality, you will be surprised but gaining immortality in Chromatika is a lot easier than you think. Getting a job on Earth is a more complicated matter. You don’t even have to be a local resident.
You may ask why not everyone is immortal here? Answer is somewhat complicated: since life and death become a matter of choice, many simply choose to live their life to the fullest and then depart on their own terms. But while for some 20 years is too much, there are those for whom 20 000 000 years is not enough.
Also becoming an immortal makes your life complicated in that you will have responsibilities you can’t dodge easily. So unless you are not suited for an army, espionage or being a personal assistant, I give almost 100% that you will be shoved into R/B. Studying, living and food is free + you will be nicely paid.Oh and you get a cute companion animal construct made specifically for your needs + free medicines/medical procedures, if you ever need any.
The catch? It’s really fucking dangerous. You will have to deal with mutated animals (horse sized spiders anyone?); creepy cults; magic& technology that went awry; nature that is worse than Australia, Amazonian Selva and Siberia rolled together, which is out to get you. Not to mention going into dark places with no-one knows what exactly possibly living there. And absolutely weird shit that can only be described in really-really vague terms.
Okay, you see why a lot of people don’t want it? Basically, being a mortal is a rather cushy job here. Just don’t get in the way of “big guys/gals/people” and don’t wander away from the light sources (I mean it’s rather hard to wander off a Solar system-sized spot actually but some people are just this talented), and you will be all right.
