Custom Doll: Chrometaru

I was determined to see if I could paint a thin enough coat of mirror paint that it would actually cure in 24 hours, and if it would cure better on resin than on mattel abs. So I pulled out one of the resin Wataru heads dolljunk had gifted me several years ago and quickly modded the neck with greenstuff to fit on this early 2000's Ken body. (Plz ignore the bad modding, I was being very slapdash as usual. 😅) I feathered the paint on very, very lightly, and gosh darn it applies so well even as a light coat. (Aside from how it turns out the body has a sort of semi matte texture that interferes with the chrome effect) But after over a week of drying, the result is the same as it was with Chrometaur: the paint comes away on my fingers if I handle him. Gonna try a different chrome ink on his legs later, just to see how that turns out. I know those chrome pen inks are known to dull with repeated handling unless you clear coat them with one of a handful of specific clear coats... But the fact that you CAN clear coat it is more promising than whatever the fuck is going on with culturehustle's mirror paint. Oh, and speaking of Chrometaur, I removed her head the other night because I noticed her saran hair was getting melted by the mirror paint. 😂 Jeepers.
Just posted a finished doll on Patreon, am amping myself up to run into the frigid living room so I can get the WIP posts from last month wrangled over to tumblr--but here's a preview to tide you over:
