Look into the depth of the sky and see the hope of the future.
This is a redraw of an older version of the same image, to better match my current style. Lord C'th, ruler of The Black House, lays in the embrace of his Bio-property *1. Once the most powerful of the Serpent Houses, this east-most empire has fallen during the last hundred years. The Global War took it's toll on the C'th family. This, however, does not mean the house is weak by any means. It's stronger than most of the others. Yet it's nothing compared to it's former days of glory. Commonly referred to as the house of death or the dead house (by those who are less than friendly), the black house carries the symbol of the black rice field. Taken by Shiori C'th generations past, due to her use of food poisoning as a means to rise to power. *1 Bio-Property is the collective name for crops/lands (class 3), pets/cattle/animals (class 2) and Intelligent species (class 1). Class 1 includes Serpents, Human, Deer and Owl. However, Owls are rare to see as bio-property, since serpents and owls have a deeply rooted hatred for each other. Only in the Eastern Empires do you actually deal in class 1 bio-property. As an example, let's use the image above. This is Mey. She is a class 1 bio-property. She was sold at the age of 5, since her parents couldn't afford to raise both their children. This was done out of consideration to both Mey and her brother. The owning of class 1 bio property is still fully legal in the east. But due to the Serpent Houses being the ones to set the rules, they have full control on the laws surrounding ownership. Creating a sort of monopoly of the market. And even though there are cases of poor treatment of property, most class 1 property is cared for quite well. So this was a preferred situation to have both children going hungry and/or ending up on the streets. Chronicle Divide
One of the lords of the seven roads, lady Sh'elish (the serpent, not the human) rules the lands by the north border of the Great Divide. Her house is usually referred to as The Grey Flower or specifically The House Of The Grey Flower. Chronicle Divide
Unlike humans, the animal people* of Earth doesn't feel shame over their "naked" bodies. However, most still choose to wear clothing, since it's an expression of one's individuality. And armor is used by most people within the military or other combat oriented occupations. *People in this world refers to creatures of higher intellectual capacity.
