[ @diviinitism : Ninth grade, when Vlad got hospitalized && Joss left /
for Meredith!
meredith had held her cell phone in her hand for what felt like an excruciating eternity. the only person she had been able to get in contact with was vlad’s aunt, who told her over a phone call that vlad was in the hospital. for being stabbed through the chest. the tears that welled up in her eyes as nelly tried to speak to her in a emotionally stable tone were not quelled even when his aunt said he’d live through it. when she clicked the ‘end’ button, the sobbing started. face in her hands, she choked on her own sobs while sitting on the edge of her bed in her dimly lit bedroom. only her muted television offered any light.
vlad was one of her best friends — even someone she loved. she had even kissed him once. in their perfectly normal high school life, she had made her subtle cues that she wanted him.
but in trying to make vlad jealous, she had accidentally fallen for joss, as well. who was also not answering her calls and texts.
meredith rested her pink sweater sleeve against her lip and checked her messages again on her phone. not a single one had been opened, not by vlad, henry, or joss.
— hey vlad are you okay?
— i’m really worried
— have you heard from joss?
— vlad
— i’m gonna call your aunt
— hey henry have you heard from joss or vlad?
— neither of them are answering and i’m kinda freaking out
— they didn’t get into a fight did they
— please please answer me when you can
— hey joss? are you okay?
— where are you?
— i’m really worried joss
— please please please don’t ignore me
— please be safe
— joss…
she sniffled as she looked at her last message to joss. just his name. just a one - word text. and no read receipt.
desperately trying to inhale amidst her sobs, she ran a frustrated hand through her curly chocolate brown locks. she didn’t want to think about the conclusion her mind was coming to — that vlad being in the hospital and joss’s disappearance were connected.
meredith put her phone down onto her comforter and put her face back in her hands.
