... ❝ @chrysalis-opening ; ( WITH JEAN GREY ♡ )
“UM, HI.” JEAN SAID, AS SHE SAT down next to the girl in the lecture hall. She tucked a fiery strand of hair beneath her ear, as she heaved in a large breath. Large crowds while being a telepath was never easy. “Is something wrong with the Professor?” It wasn’t like him to be late.
AU with Christine O'Connell (chrysalis-opening) - Sherwood forest with Robin Hood & Marian
Christine and Helena had not met before they were driven from the city– and that first terrible night in Sherwood at the start of winter, with nothing but the clothes on their backs, forged a bond between them that would prove unbreakable.
Unbreakable, and necessary for their survival: for, falsely accused of attempting to break into the Sheriff’s home and rob him, what else could they do but flee before the Guardsmen came for them? Christine’s father and Helena’s uncle were both suspected of aiding and abetting the outlaws of Sherwood– and the Sheriff had chosen to vent his rage upon the defenseless girls.
So now, homeless and without allies, what were these two new friends to do? Helena was raised by a weapons-dealer, but one cannot build a shelter with a bow; and Christine, an aspiring scribe, was finely-educated, but cleverness alone will not fill an empty stomach.
Yet frightened as they are, the girls are also defiant, and that defiance will become a force to be reckoned with….
"What's in the thermos? "
This is a bright green drink with lots of bubbles and sugar on the rim of the glass. It smells somewhat like fine wine and tastes like a cinnamon roll. The locals generally use it to water plants.
A nickel for the Nickelodeon? - chrysalis-opening
Wherein the Muse continues the Good Work, and the mun dislikes the new format, but does not let that prevent her from writing one of her longest run-on sentences ever, which, believe me, is a pretty impressive feat.
Kathryn, having already straightened her bed, picked up her Alchemy book, set it atop her already organized books and headed out the door - briskly. “I’ll meet you for tea?” she directed at Jane. She then all but ran to her class, it being at the far end of the furthest wing. (In case of students mixing inappropriate solutions.)
Kathryn could usually manage to get through classes she was (rarely) unprepared for with a sweet smile and vacuous look when necessary. It worked beautifully on her Alchemy instructor, who didn’t believe young women should be educated in any case.
As they were all readying themselves for their next class, she approached Victoria, politely asking (even lowering herself to coming very nearly close to begging) if she would be willing to help Jane and herself with Alchemy, Victoria being oh so advanced than any other girl at the school, and maybe they could start at tea today. With a slight upturned nose (Kathryn was sure because of the cousins’ ruined reputations) Victoria bit at the compliment and consented.
One accomplished, even if it did mean discussing elements over tea. Kathryn shuddered in disgust. Now off to her class on managing a large household. Not that she ever planned on that particular course for her life, but her parents insisted.
Well, she could approach Anne regarding tea, and Jane would be so proud that she was working to un-besmirch their reputations!
With all their plans and hopes, it was a wonder indeed that Jane was able to manage to pay attention during lecture after lecture after endless lecture, but then, she hadn't finished her reading for Literature, and so the possibility that she might be questioned on text of she had no knowledge kept her busy indeed, asking questions (even more than usual) of instructor and classmate alike, and finally making her own way to Alchemy where all went rather less smoothly than hoped for, yet still with no true disaster, and in the process, she convinced Anne to join them, piquing her class-mate's curiosity by insisting that no-one else in the school had Anne's eye for color, and after all, neither she nor Anne had done the reading, so one might work on the mysterious project while the other read, and vice versa, and with her head full of school-work and more important work, she found herself back in their room almost half an hour ahead of the appointed time, as she (carefully) cast aside books and caught up the tea-kettle.
And as soon as the kettle was on, she sat herself down to catch her breath.
