haneul sees yul as a role model. yul is probably the most responsible and hardworking person haneul knows, and he still manages to be so happy and so full of life most of the time... haneul wonders how he does that, and he’s pretty sure shia is one of the biggest reasons why his friend is so full of joy. yul is a great professional, a great father, a great friend, and haneul wishes he could be at least a slightly bit like the great person that is han yiyul.
haneul is shia’s self proclaimed uncle. he isn’t sure if yul would have taught his daughter to call his friend her “uncle”, but haneul made sure to tell shia that he is her uncle since she was just a little baby. he has seen her grow, he has seen her develop her love for fish, and he can see a little bit of him there in the way she’s so passionate about sea life. either yul likes it or not, he will be there to encourage the little girl to go for a biology major when she’s old enough to go to college.
there is no one haneul trusts more than yul. well, his wife doesn’t count... especially now that he’s been having a really bad time with her, and he wouldn’t be afraid to open up to yul about his situation with her. he knows yul can keep his secret as if his life depended on it, and he knows his friend wouldn’t tell him anything that could be harmful for him and his wife; he listens to yul’s advises, and actually tries to do what he’s told.
yul influences haneul to think of becoming a father. haneul sees yul so happy with his daughter, and he wonders if that’s what he and his wife need to bring happiness back to their marriage...
