Ashes to Crown (2026) Ep. 1-2 "It's a heaven-sent opportunity. You can take your revenge."
Hardly five minutes into the show, and I can’t focus on anything except how devastatingly pretty he is 😸
this is sick. this is twisted
i am ill
why can’t you live a good, long and happy life
just for one drama, why can’t you portray a healthy and living character. why must you always be the tragic hero
why can’t you live
i am ill
As things fade
I'm on ep 14 of Ashes to Crown and I've been really enjoying it! I'm a sucker for historical C-dramas and cool FMCs and politics and it does meet all my boxes, the romance subplot is cute as well. My favourite part though I must say was Chu Zhao and Chu Ling's father-daughter relationship, I was SO invested in it and I genuinely cried when he died. And ALSO, the cinematography is rly rly beautiful imo,the show is very visually interesting. I also like the acting, the actors are all v talented.
The main criticism I have for it is its writing. Look, I'm a really big fan of politics and well-written characters and good relationships and I do think the show does an okay job at it, not the worst but not the best either imo. The problem for me is that it's starting to feel stagnant to me. I've only watched a bit more than half way through it but it kinda feels like we're stuck in a cycle of political schemes that don't really leave much of a lasting impact. I don't know how to fully describe it but it feels like it's just 'Enemy schemes smthg evil/smthg to undermine our MCs -> MCs manage to defeat them through whatever obstacle -> antagonist somehow escapes direct major consequences -> back at square one for more scheming'
I really do like this show and I'll continue watching it but I REALLY hope the writers pick up pace in the last ten eps now.
Lai's apartment on Courtney Street, Saint Denis Chinatown district, Lemoyne.
Her bedroom would probably be behind the door on the top right picture, meaning it's etiher very small or no one else lives on the same floor, I haven't decided yet.
Of course there wouldn’t be the poker table and gambling stuff around, and much less drinks/liquor or whatever bottles are around the kitchen.
Also it irks me that R* put visible windows on the building's second floor when the staircase doesn't even stop there, it doesn't make any sense... I imagine Chu Ling and his wife and children would live there. Right above his precious business and right under his niece. Needless to say she won't host any parties or have sexy time up there...
Chu Ling : Very good chop suey on the street... Say I sent you.
Also Chu Ling : I heard they’re using rats in the chop suey…
