bet you thought you'd heard the last of me!

not only am i still around, but there's a new big progress update in which i show off some parts of the site that i've built and offer my apologies for falling off the face of the earth for almost a year. here's some of the sections for my new agere social media site! everything is beta designs, so expect things to change, but these are a few screenshots from sections of the site that are beta ready. ignore the weird random games i have in the arcade section. i just threw in a bunch without even reading the titles since it didn't matter for testing. when the real thing comes out it will be a curated collection! :>

allllright everyone! as promised, here's the preview of the new agere site's progress! this comes as a package deal with some answered asks that will keep rolling out by queue over the next while, as well as a full progress update!

back from the dead! how about a mini update!

well, i'm calling it "mini" even though a lot of things were added... that's because i haven't made a full progress report or posted this to reddit or sent out the email newsletter. i'll make a big update about it a little later. for now, have a looksee! here's a list of everything that has been added in this video:

Group stuff

- i put in tabs on the homepage that let you filter your feed to only show posts from certain groups. the plus sign button takes you straight to the groups directory to look for more groups to join.

- there is also a "post in" dropdown at the bottom left of the post form that lets you choose which group to post in.

- groups on this site will be important especially for building community with early adopters, so i also made them easy to get to by adding a "my groups" section in the site sidebar.

- the groups have a number of features beyond just the group feed, including a private forum, private gallery, privacy settings, and cosmetics like changing the group icon and banner.

Profile Stuff

- unfortunately, i can't do full html customisation like Tumblr can, but i'm still trying to add as much as possible! cosmetically, you can change not just your profile image and banner, but the background image of the entire website (when someone is on your profile).

- i'm also working on developing a robust bio section with a lot of fields for people to fill out. almost none of them are required, so anyone can pick and choose what information they have on their profile, and visible to whome (just yourself, people on your friends list, or everyone).

- the bio has a lot of conditional fields to avoid getting too cluttered, so certain fields only show up if they apply to you as based on your answers. please let me know what kind of things you want to put on your bio! i'm a little uncreative when it comes to what sorts of things should be fields...

- in the future, i'd love to add a feature for system littles to be able to easily switch between different profile information, but that's not in a mini update like this. maybe it would also be fun to extend changing the website background to group pages too. just some stuff to think about.

i was quiet for a long time, but please don't give up on me! even if i don't say it, i'm still working on this project. :] it is something i truly wish to come true, even if it takes a long time.

i’m still really far from setting up the mod team, but yes i’ll be working hard on keeping trolls out. there’s a little bit about it in the survey results report that’s going up in a few days, but in the first place the community sections of the site won’t be viewable unless you’re logged in and registration will be by invite (like how it is on Ao3). i’ve looked a little bit into getting an automod set up in case i can’t put together a team to cover every hour of the day and so on… but i’ll know more about it when i get to that stage!

i added accessibility stuff to the dev log site! the following were added:

reading mask

high contrast mode

font size changer

line height changer

letter spacing changer

content scaling changer

readable font toggle

text alignment changer

hide images toggle

link highlighter

text magnifier

title highlighter

just click the purple accessibility icon in the upper right of the screen to use any of them. all the accesibility stuff is managed through a plugin from skynet technologies so thanks to them! and any reported problems go to them, not me, so sorry if something breaks and i'm out of the loop.

yep! no offense or hate to cglers, but i’m not into it personally and i personally don’t want to run an adult content/fetish website. harder to moderate, runs into grey areas with minors being on the site, makes it easier for predators to get an in, and to top it all off i'm Ace🖤🩶🤍💜 so it'd suck to spend all this time building a site only to then have it be mostly hornyposts that are unrelatable at best and repulsive at worst to me. (ToT) i’m not going to police what anyone does in their free time, but on this site specifically only sfw content will be posted!

i love you guys so much but some of the phrasing on these survey responses are crazy on question 9.

"this site should NOT be xyz" oh okay didn't realize you were the ceo and made the rules sir yes sir

"there should be none of [very niche discourse thing the user disagrees with]" yep i'll make sure everyone on the site agrees with you specifically on that issue i've never heard of gotcha

"if i see abc i'm going to delete my account, so don't do it" maybe i'll just do it SPECIFICALLY so that you do. weed out the people who feel entitled enough to try to influence the outcome with threats early.

it's only like a double digit number of the 1000+ responses that are like that but wow sometimes i just have to shake my head.

(please don't be less honest on the survey because i posted this, all feedback is feedback i can learn from even if it's phrased a little rudely. let er rip.)
