IESO is lying about their numbers...
The IESO also known as the Independent Electricity Systems Operator in Ontario is responsible for overseeing the government on electricity usage in the province. Recently, in mid October 2021, the IESO released a report about the economic impacts of phasing out natural gas usage in the province. In the report they concluded that phasing out natural gas by 2030 would result in blackouts and would increase electricity costs by 60%. When they first released the report they made an attritionary mistake which made the increase in electricity cost only 12%, however they stated it as 60%. The next day, on the spread sheet in their report they doubled the amount on one of the values so that the cost of electricity by 2030 would amount to a 60% increase, which already had been picked up by the media days previously.
