I don't think only friends should be watched through a lens of good and bad.
I think all the characters are complex, and have done questionable things, jailable things at times_ but they are young. They are learning.
I'm not excusing the behaviours, but context matters. We can rank characters based on objectivity, but doesn't intention matter? Feelings? Some situations might also be perceived differently depending on which character is experiencing what.
We the viewers can look at something and think ' that's a red flag' but it's normal to the characters themselves. Doesn't mean it's right, but it is normal. Maybe they don't know better. Maybe they haven't yet got the tools to handle something the way it should be handled, and isn't that part of being human? We don't come into the adult world perfect. We make mistakes. We learn from them. We get better, or not, and we suffer either way, but to be in healthy relationships is to be in constant neverending pursuit of trying to do better for yourself and the people around you.
