Elvish Yadav Apologizes After NCW Summons for Racist Comments Against Actress Chum Darang
Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner and popular YouTuber Elvish Yadav has issued a public apology following a summons by the National Commission for Women (NCW) over his racially insensitive remarks against actress Chum Darang, a contestant in Bigg Boss 18. The comment, made during a February podcast, triggered national outrage, especially for its racist and misogynistic undertones targeting individuals from India’s Northeastern states.
The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) also condemned the statement and urged NCW action. Yadav appeared before the commission on April 22, where he expressed regret and clarified the context. Chum Darang, in a dignified yet firm response, condemned the normalization of racist stereotypes and emphasized the harm caused to women from the Northeast trying to make space in mainstream entertainment.
