It was simply a fact of life that all the best friendships started with a stupid dare and a good story to tell later on in life. For Finn and Hazie, it all started when she had dared him to eat bugs at camp as children, and from there they had spent the entire summer glued at the hip.
But they had grown apart. It happened. Childhood friendship didn’t always make it for a variety of reasons. Interests change, people grow apart, sometimes they just ended up running in different social circles and sometimes, in this case, one’s shithead boyfriend played a roll as well.
She didn’t know what brought her to Hazie’s door that night, just that she knew she needed somewhere to go and she’d started walking and suddenly she’d ended up there, knocking and hoping he was home. As an athlete, she was no stranger to regular bumps and bruises and she hoped that would keep too many questions at bay, but her current situation was a little above that: black eye, fat lip, bruised knuckles.
