Back From Florida

My family takes a trip to Disney every two years and, as usual, I managed to sneak out a few times to grab some tasty local beer. The two Cigar City bottles in the middle came from a trip to Knightly Spirits - Orange Blossom Trail while the rest came during excursions with my cousin in Tampa. We hit Cigar City first by car, getting a beer each but mostly picking up bottles/souvenirs, then took an Uber to St. Petersburg for the express purpose of spending more than a few minutes at Cycle Brewing, since I was so pressed for time my last visit. My suitcase only weighed 35 pounds at the airport (including a third CB crowler hidden in pic), so I’m definitely going to have to stock up more next time - though still quite happy with this return!

Excited to open your Hunahpu's Wristband Box? Here are a couple of reminders:

1) These Bands Do Not Come Off - Do not put on your Wristband Until the Day of the Event

We know it’s exciting but want to insure that the RFID works properly the day of the event, so please try to resist the urge!

2) Bottle Pick-up Starts at 9am

Our boxes were created prior to moving up the time so don't sweat, you can still nab your Hunahpu's at 9am.

Bottle pick-up is at the Marriott Waterside Hotel from 9 AM until the end of the festival.  You must enter the hotel from the Riverwalk, not through the hotel lobby.  Reentry to the festival is permitted after picking up your bottles, however you may not reenter the festival with those bottles.  If you are picking your bottles up early in the day, we suggest dropping them off at a hotel room or your home and returning to the festival.

3) Wristbands Need to be Registered Prior to the Event

Visit hunahpusday.com to register your wristband. Then just remember to grab it and a valid photo ID and you are all set to celebrate at Hunahpu’s Day 2017.

El Catador Club #6 - Bottle #1: Absolutely Okay

We are truly excited to release the first bottle in the 6th Edition of our El Catador Barrel-aged Beer Club, Absolutely Okay.

This International Strong Dark Ale was brewed with our friends from Belgium's De Struise Brouwers and aged in bourbon barrels. De Struise's deft hand in recipe creation has combined with Cigar City's adroit barrel aging skills to create this monumental collaboration that is superlatively, unquestionably, and indisputably "Absolutely OK".

ABV: 12.9% OG: 22 IBUs: 40 SRM: 36

Cigar City Tampa Bay Beer Week Double IPA

Grabbed four bottles of Tampa Bay Beer Week Double IPA at my visit to Cigar City. Firm malt backbone with some caramel, absolutely bursting with juicy hops - orange, pine, candied citrus, pineapple, sweet upfront with a dry, resiny finish. If I could have gotten more, I definitely would have - delicious!

Florida Brew Stop #2 - Cigar City Brewing

My mom, aunt, uncle, and I wanted to visit my cousin in Tampa + I wanted to visit breweries in Tampa = quite the natural combination, allowing for plenty of time to shoot the breeze and catch up with each other! Our first stop was Cigar City Brewing, somewhere I have wanted to visit for quite some time. They offered 25 taps - 20 of their own, 4 guest taps, and 1 collab - that provides for the just downright beautiful display above. We ended up spending the longest here, enough time for me to work my way through four flights that included 15 new-to-me Cigar City beers. The Tampa Bay Beer Week Double IPA was by far the standout, the only beer I sampled twice plus what I bought the most (4) bottles of. Visiting Cigar City is officially on my must-do list every time I visit Florida from now on!
