I loved this scene between Agnes and Garth. It shows that Agnes feels safe with him and that he sees her for who she is and sees her personality. When she pretty much flees from Paula and he offers her a cigarette. Episode 7: Commitment shows that Agnes is starting to rebel. I think she is starting to see that Gilead is corrupt and that men have all of the power. Since she also seemed to be nervous around Garth as well. But I think from the feelings she’s having for him is confusing for her because having romantic feelings for someone is forbidden in Gilead.

In this scene you see more of Garth’s kindness and compassion towards keeping Agnes safe. I definitely see potential of a secret relationship. But I could see Agnes being truthful with Becka about her feelings for Garth. And her admitting to Becka that she asked Aint Lydia to make him a commander in hopes that he would be chosen for her. I’m interested to see how their friendship/relationship develops. Seems like Garth genuinely cares about Agnes’ safety. I’m invested in this show and I’m getting into writing fanfiction again. I mainly write Harry Potter fanfiction but I’m thinking of writing The Handmaids Tale/The Testaments fanfiction as well.

I'm really glad that people are starting to realize how douchey and cliche Augustus Waters sounds. That's how I've felt about him from the first time I read the book. I'm not saying that I don't like him or don't think he's a good person, but he's not the sort of person I would want to hang out with. Like at that picnic? Hazel specifically said that his perfectly planned monologue prevented her from talking and actually creating a conversation between the two of them. He gets better about that as the book goes on and he gets sicker, but I am SO FREAKING GLAD THAT PEOPLE ARE SEEING FOR THE MANIC PIXIE DREAM BOY THAT AUGUSTUS WATERS IS.

Preface: Recently released criminal Corey stops by the road to smoke and inform the man in his car that the coast is clear. Vogel, a fugitive, abruptly climbs out and confronts Corey with Corey's own gun. They develop a mutual understanding of each other and share a cigarette.
