never felt comfortable being considered a girl but never knew they had other options until jamie started experimenting with gender. they settled on nonbinary at 15 and didn't tell anyone other than jamie and a couple other people at school
never really knew their dad(he bailed when they were little), and their mom has been incredibly vocal for a long time about thinking the entire lgbt community was a little bullshit. she drinks and gets really not nice after more than a shot or two
they used to go hide at jamie's house when their mom started drinking, switched to the hideout when jamie and cameron got it set up
i know next to nothing about monsterhearts, but zephyr would have kind of psychic type powers that, when abused, give them extremely painful migraines. the more they abuse their powers, the worse the internal damage. they and jamie got into serious trouble one time when one of jamie's deals went wrong, and zephyr almost had to go to the hospital they coughed up so much blood/had so much coming itout of their nose
learned they were a power conduit when jamie started dabbling in magic. their spells gave zephyr the exact same type of migraine, and they'd start bleeding any time jamie became their darkest self near zephyr. the two of them set up a warning system/code word so zephyr could at least be prepared for the side effects
zeph isn't a drug user and definitely isn't a fan of jamie's little side business they'd set up after going to new york, but they won't say anything about it really. jamie's got a separate little stash set up for them of the only shit that'll work to shut down their migraines when they get really bad
constantly doodling in their sketchbook to try and stay invisible. the book is chock full of realistic bird sketches and a shit ton of dirty little secrets on half the school. they've got more threads than sasha to pull on(two on the queen, two on jamie, one on cameron, and five on other students in school), but they end up passing most off to jamie. they don't need that kind of power
has had a huge crush on jamie since middle school but never really said anything, afraid of ruining their friendship. they've got a really bad habit of getting jealous when jamie messes around with anyone. they know it bugs zephyr for some reason, though he can't quite figure out why, and zephyr always brushes it off as just them being stupid and protective. jamie probably has a vague idea but never said anything just in case they were wrong
always wearing hoodies, has short hair and an undercut shaved close, let jamie add a bright blue highlight to their fringe but refuses to let him dress them up("come on, z, just one time. i have a couple things for you that'll look absolutely fantastic." "not a chance. i've seen how you dress. it isn't gonna look good on me.")
100% would be the target on the night of the party. they'd drifted away from jamie a little in the most recent school year, and very few people would know they're friends with each other. to the outside eye they're the perfect target. quiet, always on the sidelines, loner. no one would miss them. plus they'd see jamie and af making out and march off for a minute to cool off, convince themself that only happened because they're both high as fuck. they aren't paying attention and would be easy pickings
their darkest self just goes absolutely mad with power, no matter how much damage it does to them. the only way to shake it is to surrender to events outside their control
