HELLO HELLO @broomsticks!! I’ve been so enjoying reading your mutuals march series, and since you and @danpuff-ao3 are basically the reasons why I started writing these posts as well, I wanted to write a quick tribute to you and all your contributions to making this fandom a cheerier place!
First of all, your rec lists are SO GOOD and have such an amazing diversity of ships; I’m always discovering new stuff skimming through your rec lists! I love your enthusiasm and insane cheerleading for all things fandom – like your meta posts like about diving into fandom history and all these other great takes you’ve reblogged; and I ADORED your follow-up post to my post on @phantomato and how you thoughtfully augmented it with your recs and all the ways that they stand out in your mind (like remembering a line that they said 45 MINUTES INTO A TWO HOUR podcast – how thoughtful and considerate and detail-oriented of you to remember!) Thank you also for being so adorably hype about my necro Jegulus fic last year, which I was convinced had an audience of exactly 1, maybe 2 kjasdlfkjsd
And also – I am OBSESSED with all of your commentary (like holy shit, paragraphs of brilliant commentary) on this super comprehensive collection of smut writing resources that I immediately popped at the top of my bookmarks bar.
In a nutshell, leftsidedown is such a treasure – here are AO3 recs and recs-of-recs:
get hot (get too close to the flame) (ginny / minerva, 2k, E) – Ahahahahaa this was so good and so messed-up, I love the depiction of Hogwarts as a rampant hotbed of sexual favors being traded for various privileges, and how it’s so institutionally entrenched and passed down. The smut was so hot too!!
Poster of a Girl (sirius / bellatrix, 2k, M) – This was quite sweet – how close and trusting Bella and Sirius are despite the age difference, and Bella’s complete acceptance of Sirius as a trans girl – in spite of all the fucked-up elements in here and Bella taking advantage of Sirius.
no present like the moment (luna / ginny, 1.5k, T) – This is such a sweet little glimpse into Luna and Ginny’s lives twenty years after they start dating. Their familiarity with each other’s routines combined with how much marvel and admiration they have for each other is the perfect established relationship combo that will make me melt, every time.
[reclist] underrated gems of 2022 (bookmark collection, assorted) – I just love the concept of a rec list like this – I love that you’re highlighting the ‘underrated’ works you've come across! Honestly more rec lists need to be like this; this is how the hidden gems are uncovered!!
a smut writing guides and resources collection (bookmark collection, E) – This is an INSANELY good resource – it’s so well-organized and has such helpful commentary – a must-read for anyone looking to hone their skills writing e-rated fic!
