There's nothing universal about love,
And by that I don't mean
The universe isn't filled with it
I mean you can't love a flower and a tiger in the same way, can you?
I love an angel
the way I love loud music, speeding down a highway, the way you feel when the sun slides through the world in the morning,
ruffled hair and tired eyes
pillows and blankets piled up on the floor
I love the freedom you feel when you jump on the bed
I love the snowflake
Like the piercing grip of winter,
So soft the snow falls like I've fed my soul into the frosted ground and
Its broken me up, shattered into a million
Sparkling stars
you breathe life onto the window pane and it dissipates like you never existed and
The ache is unbelievable
I love a fire
Warm and bright
You laugh so hard your whole body hurts and for once you're not crying from the pain but from the joy of something that made you feel
alive again
I love the forest
Soft steps footbreadths in cinnamon spice,
Hold that warmth to my chest, coffee cup, old scarf,
Like stepping on eggshell in the dusk
hush, now, the feral creatures are watching us, and they see every bone crumble
while the forest slips away I'm screaming
I love the glow of the street lamps,
As their light guides me home, to somewhere I've never been but I feel like I belong here
Where I can stretch myself out as far as I can go and I know
However hard the dark reaches into it, the lamplight will always catch me again and again, the shadows cross over there,
But I'm safe, and soon I'll come home
to where the leaves of a tree grow deep in the autumn,
Where eyes dance like fireflies in the twilight
I bubble over when the breeze blows through it, and it hurts just a little-
the leaves rattle my silence when it speaks
brushing fingertips over the sunset, I’m tracing it's patterns with cold hands, but I'm not afraid when I wake
