A letter to our base
22 March 2018
To all those who support the fight for better, more affordable laundry:
We hope this letter finds you doing well and prepared to enjoy the upcoming break. Before departing, we wanted to share an update with you all in regards to how the fight is going on the front lines.
On 19 March, a press release was sent out stating that Lancaster Laundry formally sent the letter signed by more than 70 students to the Vice-Chancellor and all of the accommodation managers across campus. As of that press release, we were awaiting a further detailed response from the University.
On 21 March, Lancaster Laundry received a detailed response from Jo Hardman, the Head of Commercial Services. We are excited to say that the tone of the letter was quite welcoming and encouraged us to meet with him to further discuss our grievances.
It is promising that Mr. Hardman showed a commitment to improving laundry services and has shown he is taking the time to work with Circuit Laundry to find where service has been in decline.
It is the intention of Lancaster Laundry to accept this invitation to meet with Mr. Hardman and discuss what can be done in the future to provide our students with better quality, low cost laundry services.
It is also important to note that Circuit Laundry has indicated that they would be happy to meet with students to discuss what they can do to improve service. After the initial meeting with Mr. Hardman, if a meeting with all three parties (students, the University, and Circuit Laundry) is necessary, we will certainly try to get all three to the table.
It is our promise to keep fighting for you in this endeavor and not rest until laundry lies open to all. Until that day, we send our,
Warmest regards,
Lancaster Laundry
