I’m very put off by the use of the grouping “women and femmes”, because even though I do often identify as femme, I don’t mean for that to make you see me as a woman. Like I am femme, but I’m still 100% non-binary, and I feel like it’s just become another way to qualify non-binary people within the binary. And I also think that you would never see “men and butches” (maybe I’m with wrong, but I haven’t) so it’s also just another way of setting the non-binary default as woman. Seems like a way to say “you’re femme, so you’re basically a woman”...

I was in a shop earlier and there was a guy and his son and the son was looking at toys and picked up a Barbie doll (saying she had great heels on) and started asking his dad for it and his dad said "No, you don't want that, that's for girls" and it made me really sad for that boy

However when I was in the Disney store I saw a little boy with his parents looking at the Disney Princess stuff and his mum was showing him all range of stuff and just said "what would you like, sweetie?" and that was lovely (in the end they bought a Sophia the First play-set and the boy was so happy) so I was glad I saw at least one set of parents not forcing their child to adhere to gender stereotypes, but I wish all parents would put what their children want before what society expects them to want...
