GNS3 Home LAB with Cisco CCP
It has been a while since I have posted anything due to being a little busy at the office. However this weekend I was busy with another LAB setup at home in my virtual environment.
Today I would like to show you how to setup Cisco CCP with GNS3.
First you will have to setup the basic network lab on GNS with the routers you want to use. In my example, I used 3 routers to simulate an ISP HQ and Branch office. For this I used static routing between the devices. a simple 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 (wild card) route will do the trick on HQ and Branch. You will also need to configure 2 extra interfaces to accommodate the management interface where CCP will be connecting to.
In GNS3 you should use the Cloud to setup the bridge between the virtual interfaces on your Windows machine and GNS3. Please see attached photos of virtual loop back interfaces used. Configure them on the same subnet, if you don’t there will be no connectivity between your host PC and the virtual environment running on GNS3.
Make sure from your computer in command prompt you can ping the devices in GNS3. You should also be able to see the network routes inside the host PC routing table by going to command prompt and issuing the command route print, also see attached picture for reference.
Once basic connectivity and virtual interfaces are setup, remember to configure the routers as HTTP servers, configure usernames and password with required privileged level. From here you should be able to open CCP and discover your devices.
If there are any issues, look at the error logs in CCP and the routers they will tell you if some configuration is incorrect or missing.
