hi love i recently checked out your blog and i am so happy for you that you are practically done writing your novel! what's it about exactly, and do you have any tips on how to get a novel finished? i keep starting novels but i never finish them :/
ahhhh thank you!! its about a group of teenagers who are on a mission to find a kingdom that exists only in rumours!!
i am awful at getting myself to write, honestly, but i do have a few tips here that ive picked up!!
download cold turkey if you have a windows laptop!! its a program that blocks certain websites that you determine and once you turn on the timer, you cant turn it off! honestly its helped me so much because ive had nothing else to do other than write then because i couldnt get on tumblr or youtube or anything!!
start writing straight away - instead of loading up tumblr or youtube first, get straight to writing, because once you start something else itll be harder to actually start writing
try to write in somewhere almost completely silent, i.e. dont let yourself be distracted by the tv or by other people in the room etc.
sometimes when i cant get my mind to focus on anything, ill turn on a playlist that i made specifically for my novel to remind me of the feel that i want for it, and it helps clear my mind a bit so i can keep on track and write
mute every social media app on your phone (something i admittedly havent mastered yet) because youre likely to get distracted by the notifications
if you get stuck on a certain part of your novel, skip it for now. what i do is write in [these] what i need to do so that when i come back to doing it and see like four of them on my page, it feels like visible progress since i can delete them when im finished
i hope this helps!!
