"Orange Cove citrus grower, Lee Bailey spoke with KMPH FOX 26 yesterday while watching his trees be bulldozed as a result of zero water allocation. Lee is now forced to decide which of his groves he can continue farming with the minimal groundwater supplies available. Meanwhile, 4 of his wells are no longer pumping. Due to zero water allocation from the Friant-Kern Canal, citrus growers along the east side of the San Joaquin Valley are being forced to make difficult farmingdecisions, including bulldozing citrus trees that otherwise would have continued to produce for several years. This video shows the reality that is taking place in the Central Valley's citrus industry as a result of zero water deliveries. This block in particular is a 50 year-old orange grove in the Orange Cove Irrigation District. Unfortunately, the grower does not have sufficient ground water available to continue farming without access to surface water.
