Watts Creek is a small, urban tributary of the Ottawa River in Kanata. It runs from Angus Street to Shirley Bay at the Department of National Defense Rifle Range. The creek flows through urban development and developed land owned by the Department of National Defense and Communications Research Centre Canada. Water runoff from residential, commercial and high tech areas is the main concern on this tributary. Over the years, the creek became more turbid as the water flow decreased.

Huntley Creek 'City Stream Watch' Summary

In total, we got 10km of the stream assessed, collecting data such as water chemistry, stream widths and depth, presence of wildlife, potential stewardship opportunities, riparian vegetation community, instream substrate, bank erosion, etc.

MVCA is part of the City Stream Watch collaborative formed in 2014. The group, includes 10 agencies monitoring City of Ottawa streams.
