literally a few minutes after I made my previous open the floodgates post i got more motivation to work on this aksnslaklsms so here it is finished!!
first of all a huge thank you to @the-most-neon-leon for posting this lineart for a CIYS and letting energy-less scrubs like me contribute to open the floodgates! second of all, i had a poke around with some of the lineart to make this look like my iteration of the turtles for my oc Ty's au because that was the only way i could get motivation to keep going lol, so there's some added and subtracted stuff on there, oops!
third of all, im going to go on a ramble underneath the cut, so feel free to skip this part unless you want to hear me be sappy or youre @nickanimation , @paramountpictures or @netflix .
despite having a surface level interest in it since i was little and growing up with the 2012 tv show, i didnt get properly into TMNT until about 2022-2023 time. the first TMNT show i watched all the way through was Rise, and im so glad it was, because seeing myself represented on screen through Donnie's autistic traits and Mikey's growing-up arc and Leo's identity issues really bolstered me during a tough time in my life. i was so excited for a season 3 as soon as i finished the final episode of season 2, only to be told that there was no more. that was it. all this time and effort and beautiful animation and storytelling and characters, shoved into a few final episodes and a movie that, while awesome, wasnt very narratively satisfying. i would do anything to bring Rise back with the original writers and creators that worked on the project, if only to do these amazing characters and absorbing world justice. ive written and rewritten this waffle about six times because i want it to be as brief as possible, but also as forceful as possible. please, please, BRING BACK ROTTMNT!!!
