committing violence against the Bob
Everyone shut the FUCK up. Look at Clancy with my Mothman Build-A-Bear plush.
look at my animal boy
he paid zero attention to the delicious chicken dinner I had last night yet screamed for my bagel right after he had his breakfast this morning
There’s a stray cat I’ve been feeding that was scared of me at first but he has really warmed up to me. We can’t take him in rn for a few reasons but we plan on doing so as soon as we can. I really wish we could do it right now though, not only do I worry about him (and I actually know that cats should never be outdoors unsupervised), but he is the sweetest little guy.
He’s definitely a stray, he’s out 24/7, has very dry skin and some scars, and he was pretty thin when I first saw him, though with regular feeding he has gained a little bit of weight. We’re taking him to the vet next week to get him checked out and give him his necessary vaccines. We also do plan on neutering him, because no he is not neutered either.
Also yes, we did look into shelters and fosters but unfortunately shelters are overrun rn; it’s kitten season rn (all the more reason to adopt). We did put some shelter for him outside in the meantime though and he likes sleeping on our patio bench.
Here’s some pics of my new son, I named him Clancy Grayson [last name]. I named him Clancy after the Twenty One Pilots album and character, my mom wanted to name him Grayson but agreed to it being his middle name since he is my cat (kinda, but it’ll be official hopefully soon). He is an absolute lovebug and the closest he has come to scratching is when he makes biscuits on my leg (unaware of his capacity for Violence). Keep your eyes out for more updates on the lil man.
Clancy’s vet appt is in a few days, I want to take him in as soon as possible but I’m putting in my 2 weeks notice for my old job (grocery store, it has been horrible for my mental health so I applied for a position at a pet store within walking distance. I got the job and I have been very happy with it, so I’m quitting the grocery store job). I can’t help him get adjusted to our home while working full time, so I’ll have to wait until that 2 week period is up.
Definitely gonna give him his rabies and feline leukemia vaccines as those are absolutely necessary and we will neuter him once we can let him inside (I don’t want him roaming around after having any kind of surgery). There’s also whatever is causing his dry skin and whatever else the vet may find that we’re unaware of. But I’ll keep y’all updated with what’s going on with the lil man.
Anyway happy mother’s day to me here’s more images of my son
Clancy had a really bad health scare yesterday. Unfortunately the pet insurance that my job offers doesn’t start until July 1st so the fees are a pain but I would let someone do the ice bath kidney thing to me if it meant my baby would be alright so I’m not complaining. The good news is that he’s doing much better than he was when I noticed something was wrong.
Clancy got a bacterial parasite that causes anemia, it was pretty bad but the vets were able to stabilize him and while we couldn’t afford a blood transfusion, the medicine he is on has been working wonders. People and other animals can’t get it, it’s only cat-to-cat.
He’s still not 100% but he went from not eating, not vocalizing, not moving from the same spot outside of my bedroom door to eating a decent amount, meowing and purring (and yelling for my croissant) and being cuddly again. He’s also moving around more than before but he’s still a bit lethargic.
He’ll have to be on his meds for 4 weeks which means I’ll have to fight my cat every 12 hours for that time period (it’s a liquid oral medication that has to be squirted into his mouth) but bites and scratches are worth it for his health.
I wish I was listened to about how he should be an indoor cat, but after what happened my mom now agrees with me that he should stay inside except for supervised walks with his harness. I wish that it didn’t take this happening for her (and other people in my family) to realize that but we can’t reverse time.
Anyway, keep your cats inside people.
Clancy update: neutering and more
I mentioned that Clancy got vaccinated a few days ago. Well, he actually has to get a second round of shots on June 20th (nothing wrong with him, just part of the vaccines he’s getting). Unfortunately, he can only get neutered after the second vaccination so his neutering won’t be until June 26th.
Fortunately, my mom is letting him be partially inside. Even when he is outside he either goes to the abandoned house next to our apartment or he hangs out on our patio where I put out some enrichment. I still don’t like him outside like that, but at least he stays nearby.
In the meantime, I am going to prepare and get him everything he needs to live a cozy life indoors. It’s a very good thing I have an employee discount at my job. Speaking of which, I am officially no longer at my godawful grocery store job and am only working at the pet store now which I am extremely happy about. :)
Here are some Boy images from this morning. Look at my son
