I usually go for a walk/ jog in the late evening because I'm trying to lose weight. I go to an outdoor track by my house which happens to be next to an elementary school, so there are some parks nearby which kids like to come to. Tonight I was running on and off my first ten minutes as usual when a family came by and started walking along the track. They had a four year old son who rode his scooter ahead of his parents around the tack. I had my headphones in and was minding my own business as usual, shyly avoiding eye contact and what not. I noticed the sound of this boy's scooter slow down behind me and speed up when I would run. I think the boy was going along with me. To test this theory, I sped up. The scooter sped up. I broke into a sprint. The scooter aggressively followed until I stopped. He rode on ahead. I figured he would keep going, but he stopped a little while up and waited. As I approached him, I said a quick 'hi,' which he returned. He kept following me like this for a while until I took out my wad phones. I ended up striking up a conversation with him, learning his name, age, favorite color, favorite sport and what not. He had me race him. He paced my running. I decided to turn off my running app and just walked with him and played with him instead. And it was so great. I love kids so much. And while I don't know if I burned as many calories, and I didn't beat this week's mile, this had been my favorite work out all week. I'm just sharing this here so I can look back on this someday maybe, but I am just so happy. I love playing with kids. I love children and how accepting and eager they are to play. I know this might be a little thing to a lot of people- but I just- I'm so happy right now. ;W;
