So as you all know Asahi from SMT4A is like a little sister to me, I've always wanted a sister, and I found her in the same game I found my soulmate in. So what better day to post this than sisters day? :D
This essay will be dedicated to her and the girl that I once was <3
Here's to you sis!
Defending Asahi from Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse
A lot of people online throw around the word "depression" without truly understanding what it is. Real depression isn’t just about feeling sad—it’s the crushing weight of worthlessness, insignificance, and the belief that the world would be better off without you. It’s feeling like no matter what you do, you’ll never be enough. That’s exactly why Asahi’s story in SMT4A hit me so hard.
In SMT4A, Asahi really cannot catch a break:
First she has her mentors and senior killed right in front of her face: Nikkari and Manabu, and then is strangled and held hostage by Buddha, later on her own father dies after the Kinshicho base is infiltrated, and on top of that her own childhood friend is now a walking zombie puppet for Dagda.
And of course she has competition with Toki: A girl who is actively jealous of her because .. of a guy. Something... that hits a bit too close to home for me because I was often the girl that was considered "competition" even though all I really wanted was just friends to hang out with but I was already deemed an enemy.
Prime example being below
... And they all expect her to be okay after this..?
People are quick to dismiss Asahi, calling her annoying or useless. They forget that she’s only 15. She’s spent her whole life underground, sheltered from the horrors of the outside world. And suddenly, after Nanashi dies, she’s thrown headfirst into a brutal reality where demons, angels, and gods battle for supremacy. On top of that? She’s lost the only friend her age.
If you find her "annoying" that's fine, you're entitled to your opinion, but that means I'm also entitled to defend her.
Meanwhile, the so-called "strong" characters around her :
Navarre, Gaston, Nozomi, Isabeau, Flynn, even Hallelujah, all have some kind of supernatural blessing, divine power, or special lineage backing them up. Asahi doesn’t. She’s just a regular human trying to survive, trying to make a difference in a world that constantly tells her she’s not good enough.
And let’s not forget the biggest hypocrisy of all: The people who worship Nanashi seem to forget that without Dagda, he’d be dead. Just as “useless” as they claim Asahi is. If anyone had the right to feel like they didn’t belong in this fight, it was her. And yet, she kept trying.
That’s why I refuse to stand by when people put her down. They mock her, belittle her, and act like she deserved the harsh treatment she got—especially from Gaston.
When Gaston told Asahi she was a "pimple on his [Nanashi’s] ass," I was furious.
This was personal. If these characters truly wanted Asahi to "get stronger," why not help her instead of constantly putting her down? Why not mentor her, guide her, encourage her? But of course, it’s always easier to look down on someone struggling than to reach out and lift them up. Something even Dagda talks about, how friends are never there when you truly need them.
Another very glaring example of this is — In the scene where you and your crew are preparing to sneak into MIkado via disguises. Asahi and the other girls are trying on makeup, now this part bugged me a LOT because everyone made fun of Asahis’ makeup. Why? Just why? Do you really think that a 15 year old girl who has no mother, no feminine figure in her life to give her make up tips— and most importantly, — has no time to spend on such pursuits because she’s literally sheltered in the underground looking for relics to trade in for money and survive… would have time to practice her make up??
As a girl myself, I never knew how to put on makeup, thankfully no one condemned me for it, but makeup isn’t the issue here, it's laughing and mocking someone who never learned to do something. It was done to me a lot. Everyone had ridiculous expectations of me as a child, to learn things ridiculously early like my times tables by 5 and when I didn’t, I was punished for not being prodigal. And compared to those who were seemingly perfect. (i.e Toki) “Wow she must’ve had beauty training too,”
Gee, the lack of self awareness is strong with you Hallelujah.
I was Asahi once. Growing up, I always felt like there was someone better than me. Someone smarter, more capable, more worthy. No matter how hard I tried, I could never measure up. And instead of encouragement, all I got was criticism:
"Why can't you get straight A’s like that girl?"
"Why can't you be like that guy who never struggles?"
But no one ever stopped to tell me, "You’re fine as you are. You don’t need to be perfect. Perfect is a myth."
Cutting from the narrative a little, I feel like sexism plays a role for sure, people are too hard on teenage girls (read Bella Swan) in general, if they're too perfect? They're trash, if they're realistic and act scared or hopeless? NOOO they're anti- feminist.
Asahi also looks up to Isabeau a lot but aside from just throwing a few nice words at the girl, what exactly DOES she do for Asahi? Nothing.
And when Asahi sacrifices herself during the Shesha battle? When she takes the hit meant for you and dies? It shattered me.
What's the first thing she does when she's brought back to life??
Apologize, something else that hit too close to home for me, I would often apologize A LOT as a result of my trauma, believing my existence was an inconvenience to others, and that everything would be better if I was dead... A pain I know too well.
Because I know what it’s like to feel so useless in the face of overwhelming pressure. To feel like the best thing you can do for others is to just disappear. Watching her say that she killed herself so she “wouldn’t be in your way anymore” was like looking into a mirror I never wanted to see again. As seen below, this scene made me tear up and sob loudly.
But that's why I relate to her so much.
It takes IMMENSE strength to admit that "Yes, I'm average, yes I'm not special, but my life still has fucking meaning" growing up I was also pressured heavily and had high expectations placed on me, especially when I was 15 years old.. and Asahi was me at this age too. I really wanted to hug her here.
(Hallelujah pissed me off a lot here, false pity ticks me off )
A friend of mine once told me, “Man, if Clara were in this game, Asahi would never be treated poorly.” And they were right. If I had been there, I would have protected her. I would have told her, “You are not an inconvenience. You are not a burden. You never held me back. If anything, Gaston was the one dragging us down with his ego.”
They say, “Be the person you needed when you were younger.”
So that’s exactly who I will be—for Asahi. Always.

Author's Notes: My first House MD self insert fic! I'm so excited to put this out finally, its been awhile I wrote something but I hope I haven't fully gotten rusty.
Do note that there will be mentions of past emotional abuse, intrusive thoughts, imposter syndrome, and ableism against Clara.
It began with a single sneeze, then a cough, and quickly escalating to fourteen in a row and hadn’t let up for nearly a week.
At first, Chase had written it off as a mere pollen allergy since he was accustomed to Clara's allergies and her sneeze fits-- until he saw that she had used up a full box of Puffs.
He had offered her a script of Claritin-D, but Clara refused to take them on the basis that she didn't want to feel drowsy all day, which was fair he thought, she already took melatonin to sleep at night.
Robert knew all her chronic conditions by heart and never made her feel less for them. While she appreciated his care, old conditioning sometimes made her feel guilty for leaning on him.
He made his way downstairs and smiled at Clara.
Clara was quietly sorting through their pantry for something healthy but warm to reheat. She caught a glimpse of him, from the corner of her eye.
"Oh hey..!" she smiled at him. The same dazzling smile that made his heart melt. Her green eyes caught his, bright even through the haze of sickness, and for a moment, he forgot the cold at all.
Chase made his way over to Clara and gently snaked his arm around her waist.
"Hey yourself, what's wrong? And don't lie to me," He murmured in her rose-brown hair.
Clara sighs and coughs. "Its just a cold, Rob. I'll be fine. I was thinking of noodle soup tonight?" But in actuality her throat felt like someone had lodged in a rusty metal plate inside it.
Without another word, Chase gently presses the back of his palm against Clara's forehead feeling for hints of a fever.
"Not a fever yet but you do feel a bit clammy," Clara got lost in his blue eyes, she didn't dare protest now.
He went to their medical cabinet and got her some cough drops, and ushered her to bed. Clara let it happen. Deep down she liked that Chase loved to care for her.
Chase gracefully laid her down on the bed and took out her night clothes, a simple nightwear set, cotton and breathable. Clara began to pull at the hem of her shirt, and Chase paused her.
“Please, allow me,” he insists. Clara nods. She appreciated him so much because no one in his life seemed to. And she had experienced firsthand what that was like -- people demanding you be useful to them, but it was never enough, and she would still be treated poorly, from her own “family” or cohabits, as she appropriately called them.
But it was different with Chase; he appreciated everything she did: Bringing him both dinner and lunch at the hospital when there was an emergency. Driving him back home too. It wasn't an obligation to Clara, it was just what you did for someone you genuinely loved.
For once she didn't feel like she had to scramble to justify her very human faults around him, she got sick, everyone does, its not a moral failing like her cohabits would treat it.
"You're a bit quiet, everything okay?" Chase said as he handed her the cold medicine, a purple liquid that tasted like grape. Clara sipped it carefully then quickly swallowed it down with a glass of lukewarm water.
"Just, yeah, haha, a sore throat. Really you don't have to do this you must be so busy with other things--"
Chase took Clara's hand and gazed gently into her eyes sincerely.
“You are not and will never be a burden to me. I'm not your pathetic excuse for a family, who would neglect a sick child because you were too inconvenient for them. That's not who I am, Clara.”
Clara teared up. Chase wiped her tears gently and held her close to his chest his hands gently brushed hers and he stroked her face.
“You’re sick. That’s it. People get sick,it’s normal. It’s why doctors exist in the first place.”
His voice softened, it soothed Clara. This made Clara realize something she should have been told a long time ago.
Pressing a kiss to the top of her head. Clara sniffled and swallowed, her throat feeling a little sore, which he picked up on because he was an observant doctor.
Then he adjusted the blanket around her unhurried, and even adjusted her pillow, like he actually wanted to do this for her, compared to the sloppy and hasty 'care' she had, usually with a scowl on the cohabit's face wishing that they could be anywhere else but with her, so much for 'family' being everything.. Chase had a similar upbringing, and he understood it more than anyone.
"Oh, the tea should be ready, a small spoon of honey should help you too... And.. Clara?" He smiles gently at her.
"Yeah, Chase?" She smiled.
“You don’t have to earn being taken care of.” He gently stroked her hair once more, and left to get her honey and lemon tea, and returned with the grilled cheese sandwich as well, with pepper jack cheese, just the way she liked it.
Clara's heart fluttered again, she still wasn't used to the fact that Chase remembered everything about her; what she liked on her toast, her favorite color, her favorite pizza topping... the list went on. For once she didn't feel invisible, and thrown to the side. Around Chase she was the centerpiece of attention.
"Want the windows open? Might seem counter-intuitive but some fresh air can help the allergies,"
"Sure! I'd love that," Clara said with a slight rasp in her throat, she gently cut her sandwich into pieces, Chase was about to do it for her but she smiled and shook her head, she didn't mind cutting her own pieces.
Chase kisses her forehead again and smiles at her, he adjusts the pillows. He also placed her cold medicine on the adjacent table, including a time of when to take what, and what to avoid, etc.
"Do you need anything else, darling? Want me to stay?"
Clara thought for a bit and shook her head, earnestly.
"I'll be fine, I'm feeling a bit hungry and dazed, wow," Clara observed.
"Of course, you're sick, your body needs to refuel," Chase got off the bed. "I'll be down the hall if you need me okay? If you start feeling even a little warmer let me know, sweet dreams, love,"
Cara sighed, her heart grew warm. What did she do to deserve a Forever One like him?
Without wasting anymore time she took a big gulp of the tea, the liquid warming her throat as it flowed downwards. Relief. A spoonful of honey did wonders.
As she took a bite of her sandwich; the ugly thoughts began to crowd inside, as the brain remembers trauma and old cycles are more comfortable than the hand that will never let your heart go, because your brain is always waiting for the other shoe to drop -- especially when the 'love' you've experienced has always been conditional.
"He should be caring for patients who have it worse than you,"
"You're so weak and pathetic for needing rest from a cold,"
"You're so selfish and taking up all his time when other people have it so much worse than you,"
"YOU HAVE A COLD? BIG DEAL! SOMEONE ELSE IS STRUGGLING WITH CANCER! YOU BOUGHT THIS COLD UPON YOURSELF!"
The thoughts grew louder and louder, in any other moment, Clara would usually then cry herself to sleep but this time, something new was brewing in her blood: Defiance. Who were they to tell her she didn't deserve care? And most of all, why should the pathetic, paltry words of people who didn't matter be the loudest?
Clara had had enough, she sat up firmly and closed her eyes.
"No. I fucking deserve this, fuck off," Clara stated out loud to the clamoring thoughts in her head, with the utmost resolve.
Quiet. She then picks up a pillow to scream in it.
"I'm a person too, I'm a human being, and the last time I checked, even the most 'useless' person deserves to be cared for, so fucking STUFF IT! SO WHAT IF IT'S 'JUST A COLD'? DO I HAVE TO WAIT FOR IT TO BECOME WORSE SO I 'DESERVE CARE'? SO YOU CAN YELL AT ME MORE? YOU ARE THE USELESS ONES, NOT ME!"
After she finished screaming, Clara removed the pillow, her hair was messed up a little but her mind was finally de-cluttered. It actually felt good to say it...
Her cohabitants of course were long gone, she had cut off contact permanently. She smiled and continued to eat her sandwich. Just a cold or not, doctors are required to treat every, single, patient. No matter the severity.
Now that the storm had passed, she allowed her brain to wander at a more amusing thought: what House would say in this moment, he'd probably make a quip or two about how people are weak for needing a pill for the slightest sniffle, but that was just House being House, she laughed softly to herself.
Even if he was blunt, it was preferable, at least he had no false pretenses and still helped patients.
He was a better doctor (alongside Chase) than most people she had the displeasure of knowing.
The medicine finally kicked in and Clara began to feel drowsy, and with her sandwiches and tea finished, she neatly placed the plates and glass on the table tray under the drawer. Not wanting to leave a mess behind. She cleaned off the crumbs from her sheets into the napkin and tossed it in the bin.
Chase arrived in the room an hour later to check on Clara, his eye settled on her sleeping figure and her rose brown hair slightly fanned out against the pillow, sticking up from static. He smiled a little at this.
But what caught his eye were the clean plates, glass and napkin properly disposed of in their respective places.
He paused for a moment longer than he meant to.
There was no mess. No forgotten crumbs, no half-finished food left behind. Just careful, deliberate tidiness, even in a moment where she had every right not to care.
Something in his expression softened.
“You never should’ve had to learn to make yourself smaller like that,” he murmured quietly, more to the still air than to her. “Or disappear so cleanly.”
He stepped closer and gently adjusted the blanket over her shoulders again, like it was instinct rather than thought.
“You were never an inconvenience,” he added, softer now. “Not even when they made you feel like one,"
"Goodnight, Clara. I love you, more than you can ever imagine, feel better soon, not for me, not for others.. but for yourself,"

Personality: Sadistic, cruel, vengeful, hates humanity, violent, hopeless romantic, loves Pokémon battles and her Forever One Steven very much.
Dynamic with Steven: Clara and Steven are the quintessential Friends to best Friends to Star Crossed Lovers to Lovers couple. The couple resides in their private cottage mansion in Southern Island with their madhouse of various Pokemon <3
Early Life
Clara was born to two Team Rocket Executives named Ouranos and Gaia Mourningstar, they were both from reputable families, The Celestial Clan. A clan that worshipped the stars. Gaia and Ouranos did not love each other. Ouranos was born in Saffron City; Gaia was from Johto from a sister clan. Their marriage was an alliance between clans, not a love match.
They came into contact with Giovanni after he sought out their help in stealing rare meteorites.
Ouranos and Gaia quickly scaled the ranks in Team Rocket up to the point of being executives. They had a big hand in playing a role in the Mewtwo project.
As presumed, they would have very, very high expectations for Clara, the would-be heiress of Team Rocket and their Clan.
Clara was enrolled in various academies from a very young age, there wasn’t much of a childhood to be had. She was constantly told how to be, how to act, how to dress, and how to present herself. Being a slow learner, meant that she had to experience the full gamut of every punishment no child should endure. She did not know what her parents did for a living, only that they were mean, strict, and unloving.
The only small joy she had was a little Vulpix (later named Blazy) that she would play and interact with on her way to school. This Vulpix was particular, it had supernatural powers and the ability to control shadows, but most of all provide Clara with comfort.
Blazy was almost killed by poachers until Clara intervened and Blazy scorched them to death.
Clara’s parents would often drill into her that humans were superior to Pokemon and that they were just tools to be expended — but she was astute and observant, noting how Pokemon didn’t care about her grades, and other superficial things only humans seemed to give importance to.
She had no friends and was bullied in school often.
All this would change when Clara was 7 years old. Ouranos and Gaia were killed by Mewtwo after he escaped and they went to capture him under Giovanni’s orders.
Enter Dr. Fuji — he was to report to Giovanni that Mewtwo had escaped and Ouranos and Gaia were dead but what he didn’t know was that they had left behind one daughter: Clara. He had also received orders to retrieve Clara and give her to Giovanni.
But upon seeing Clara, he was immediately reminded of Amber and his grief resurfaced.
Not wanting to put yet again another innocent life in harm’s way, he ends up telling Giovanni that Mewtwo had killed Clara too, and decides to adopt the young girl, but gives her Professor Oak’s last name (the latter being her legal guardian) so there would be no suspicions.
Upon hearing that her parents were no more, Clara felt nothing but relief, the first question she would ask to Fuji: “Can I bring my Vulpix, Blazy with me?” didn’t surprise him one bit.
Life with Fuji
It took a few weeks but Fuji and Professor Oak successfully managed to get Clara within their custody, even if it meant pulling a few strings — all with which Clara happily complied.
After securing the adoption. Clara and Mr. Fuji moved to Lavender Town where he made the Pokemon House, a place where abandoned and injured Pokemon could be healed and cared for. They both began life anew here.
Clara was surrounded by loving Pokemon wherever she went now, she would spend summers and afternoons at Professor Oak while taking the train back to Lavender Town. Her life was good, she got to learn all she wanted about Pokemon.
As for school, Clara could already read, write and do basic arithmetic that was necessary in life so she chose to idle away the remaining school year, she wanted to be a Pokemon Trainer.
She failed every single subject on purpose as rebellion, even English and was still loved by Fuji who saw her other talents — like being good at Pokemon battling and learning about their feelings.
Clara relished her newfound freedom and would devour every single book about Pokemon in the lab and Mr. Fuji's house, she only cared about Pokemon. She would finally attend a Trainer's School where only Pokemon topics were taught.
Meeting Steven
Clara met Steven at the Pewter Museum. The museum was holding a special exhibition on stones and evolution stones. Clara begged Fuji to take her there and he enthusiastically agreed, he enjoyed seeing Clara exploring the world around her.
Steven was 11 here, and Clara 7. He was in Kanto because his father Mr. Stone had business with Silph Co. The two struck up a conversation and he noticed Clara's Vulpix and asked if she had a Firestone.
Clara wanted to buy a Firestone that was on sale at the exhibit but had no money. Steven simply fished into his pocket and handed her a spare, saying that he already has two, so she can have this one. A beautiful moment that sparked the beginning of their friendship.
Steven and Clara would spend hours exploring together before the lights went out. He was her very first human friend. He offered her more than camaraderie --- in school he would stand up for her whenever she was bullied, and needed a partner when the teacher would ask students to pair up, leaving Clara alone before Steven came into the picture.
She was so happy to have a best friend who not only adored her but had the same niche hobbies she did. And also loved Pokemon!
However, years later. Steven had to return to Hoenn as his father's business in Kanto was done and he wanted to start his pokemon journey. But he promised Clara he'd never forget her, and neither would she.
Clara kept the Firestone he gave her and never used it.
Clara's Journey
At the age of 15, Clara began her Pokemon journey. Mr. Fuji and Professor Oak had a special mission for her: A professor in another region was studying the habitats of Pokemon and he believed that once Kanto and Hoenn were linked but he cannot find the "missing" piece: The Fated Ruby and Sapphire stones that were reported to be in the Hoenn region.
Clara is delighted, she gets to go to another region and agrees right away. She is of course, more excited to meet Steven.
She and Steven unite tearfully and a little romance begins to blossom between them. Steven is in awe of how much she's grown as a Trainer and a person in general.
As they traveled through Hoenn, their bond grew deep. He introduced Clara to his new Pokémon, and they remembered her fondly. Together, they even created their own secret base in Meteor Falls.
But yet another thing tests their relationship.
Almost immediately after Clara saves Hoenn from the clutches of Team Aqua and Magma, Steven gets word from his father that someone who was once involved in Devon is threatening to reveal their secrets of their long long involvement in Team Rocket, far before Steven was born.
A mining project that once had Devon work with a few Team Rocket executives involving something related to outer space, Devon was making parts for them– in what was assumed to be some kind of space related project, and it was anything but – Team Rocket was trying to capture Jirachi for their personal uses after Mew and Mewtwo disappeared. And.. the key to get it was in the Ruby and Sapphire stones. " Giovanni knew of Clara’s whereabouts and sent a blackmail to Mr. Stone, that he will expose everything if they don't hand over Clara.
Fearing for Clara's safety, Steven told her he needed to go somewhere important and that she should not come with him. This angered and hurt Clara, who assumed that Steven didn’t think she was capable.
Steven insisted that it was best for them to take a break.
Mewtwo Arc
Steven heads over to Johto to ask Champion Lance’s help in negotiating with Team Rocket.
Clara, heartbroken, heads over to Kanto to continue her journey.
There, after earning all 8 badges, she’s shocked to learn that Giovanni himself is the final gym leader AND that Mewtwo was his creation, the Pokemon that was hell-bent on capturing her for Giovanni.
But instead of getting mad at Mewtwo she’s furious at Giovanni– for creating Mewtwo and treating him like a prisoner alongside the other Pokemon clones.
She also learns a shocking secret that her parents who were infact Team Rocket Executives were killed by Mewtwo but doesn’t hold it against him– and that if he hadn’t killed her parents and found the courage to escape, she would not have the life she has today, she’d be under their thumbs just like he is with Giovanni.
Knowing what she knew now, Clara grew desperate to learn more about her past, why did her parents hide this? What was Dr. Fuji's role in creating Mewtwo?
Dr. Fuji tearfully tells her everything, Mewtwo, his reason for making her: Amber, but she was never a replacement for Amber. He wanted to give Clara a new life away from this.
Month later, with a special Pokemon's help: Mew, she manages to track down Mewtwo's location. She greets him warmly, says she holds nothing against him, and she needs his help in stopping Team Rocket.
Mew appeared before Clara as she had a kind heart that opened up to Pokemon. Mewtwo agrees.
Together, they defeat Giovanni but Team Rocket's other headquarters -- in Johto remains to be seen.
Clara manages to find the Ruby and Sapphire stone as well thanks to Bill's help. But their connection to Hoenn is mysterious.
Latios and Latias arc
Clara, now on a much deserved vacation with her precious Pokemon, but deeply missing Steven tries to busy herself with battles and exploring the rest of the Sevii islands.
But adventure found her yet again, thanks to the Ruby and Sapphire Stones - the duo Pokemon Latios and Latias saw that she, along with another person was their successor.
Meanwhile back in Johto, Steven learns that Clara defeated Giovanni, while they destroyed the Johto operations of Team Rocket - Lance says a dragon pokemon has chosen Steven to be his successor: Latios. This meant Clara had found the stones.
In deep regret. Steven realizes just how much he must've hurt Clara in underestimating her, he hopes that she will understand his intentions and hopefully in time be friends again.... but if she didn't want to? He'd understand, he'd already fumbled once with her trust, and with Clara she would hold a grudge long enough to make a Ninetales blush
Regis Arc
In the midst of the clash of Kygore and Groudon, and other legendary scuffles, there was a Team Aqua grunt who had an axe to grind with Clara.
She had a secret weapon: Wally's grieving Gardevoir, after the former had passed away due to lung cancer in the middle of the desert due to his weak and frail lungs - The Team Aqua grunt promises Gardevoir that if she helps them capture Steven and Clara, she'll give Gardevoir the first wish of Jirachi: Bringing Wally back.
Gardevoir having no will of her own agrees to this.
When Steven returns to his and Clara's secret base on Meteor Falls, he's ready to embrace her, tell her he's sorry, but only for it to be an illusion and he's trapped in a black hole of Gardevoir's making. The Team Aqua grunt is pleased and orders Gardevoir to hide Steven so far away no one will know where to look for him.
What she didn't count on, was Latios observing everything, and relaying this information to his mate Latias.
Jirachi Arc
Meanwhile Latias has an important message for Clara, she gets a letter from Steven, that he apologizes for underestimating her wishes to talk things out back to their old place in Meteor Falls, he will explain everything.
Clara asks Latias to take her to him, but Latias shows her something else: Steven trapped behind a frozen wall spanning for miles and miles, his eyes cold and lifeless, this snaps something inside her.
Wasting no time Latias and Latios take her to Meteor Falls. She meets Mewtwo there, who wishes to help her find her beloved again. She's the only human he trusts and respects.
Latios tells her that Gardevoir has trapped Steven's soul in a blackhole, and they need to get it before Team Aqua gets to Jirachi.
Bill offers to help Clara, seeing her plight. He studies the Ruby and Sapphire stones, and that they are keys that once connected Kanto and Hoenn.
He sends the data to Lanette and she helps Clara gauge out a map of the location of the each Regi using his Porygon.
Clara wastes no time in getting Professor Cozmo's help as well, to translate the braille in the tombs.
But first she goes to the elderly couple on Mt Pyre.
They tell her that Hoenn is connected by the Sea, The Earth and Sky, the pokemon choose people to represent them. The Sea being Clara, Earth being Steven.
The Sky being Rayquaza, and the Emerald stone was hidden deep within Pacifidlog Town. If all three stones are presented to the place closest to the stars (Mossdeep City) then Jirachi will appear....
The Team Aqua grunt and Gardevoir were apprehended by Clara herself, and tortured to death, breaking Gardevoir's grip on the binds that held Steven.
Clara is hailed as a hero once more.
Reunion Arc
Steven profusely apologizes to Clara, for underestimating her, but Clara accepts his apology. He was only trying to protect her, anyone would have done the same thing, with the threats gone, they can finally catch up.
On her 16th birthday, he buys her tickets to the Litleonid meteor shower, its the most magical night of her life. Jirachi appears again, it turns out that Clara's wish was already granted, she didn't need to wish for Steven to be freed, he already was thanks to her sincere heart.
Instead Jirachi chooses to bless them, binding their souls together as Latios and Latias merge them. Officially they were recognized as a bonded pair under Jirachi himself
Bonus Deoxys Arc
Life settled down quite nicely. Clara and Steven had a love ceremony at Rustboro when she turned 21 and he 25.
Meanwhile, Mewtwo made a very special friend too. He met Deoxys one starry night while flying through space on Clara's Rayquaza---, another being mutated by DNA. He realized that perhaps he wasn't such an "anomaly" after all, mutations can happen in nature too.. and just like Clara, he too had the right to exist and live his life, regardless of his origins and nature.
So this is a self insert I've been working on for awhile! This one does not have any romance in it as I strictly want it to be a childhood type of fantasy. And fixing stuff in the Wizard World, the Clara -way.
I need to brush up on my Harry Potter lore of course but I did do whatever research that needed to be done. I'll be re-reading the books too.
Anyway with that out of the way, on with the show!
Clara Mourningstar
Name:
Clara Mourningstar (mother’s surname, as merfolk don't have last names)
Appearance: Green eyes, pale skin, rose brown hair.
Wand: Apple wood wand, 14 3/4 inches long and a Phoenix feather core. Very Swishy flexibility.
Companion: A Unicorn named Delilah, she rides her around Hogwarts during her free time.
Backstory:
Clara was born to a pure-blood sorceress named Vashti who fell in love with a merman named Ermis. The merman was initially on Voldemort's side, as he promised that they'd be recognized as actual people instead of "beasts”.
However he was betrayed, after he learned that Voldemort planned to take over the oceans as well as land.
As an infant, Clara inadvertently stunned Voldemort with a supersonic cry during his attack, allowing her father Ermis to deliver the killing blow. The wizarding world knows her as the child who survived — though the full truth of what happened that night remains known only to a few.
Vashti’s family were an old ancient line of powerful sorcerers that drew magic from the cosmos.
After Ermis killed Voldemort, and Clara's mother was shunned, her powers were stripped away as punishment.
She had to escape to the Muggle world and raised Clara as a normal girl, until her powers started showing. Clara herself never felt like she belonged in the muggle world and was fascinated with her powers, but her mother would tell her to not use them outside the house.
One day, while they were in the garden. Clara used magic to plant some seeds and water them. It didn't take long for the nosy neighbors to notice and the accusations started. Furious, Clara screamed loudly and her latent mermaid powers had surfaced in a devastating scream, unintentionally killing her neighbor by making them bleed from their ears.
Her mother was later killed by Aurors, leaving Clara orphaned.
Clara would also drown anyone who tried to come near the house, it didn't take long for the ministry of magic to notice this. Clara ran away into the woods..
Until one day.... a certain half Giant, learned about the rumors of a certain half mermaid/sorcerer and was ordered by the Ministry of Magic to pick her up, alongside Harry, aka, magical orphans who were affected by Voldemort.
Clara is delighted that magic is real and she's finally found a place to belong.
At age 9, Clara is accepted to Durmstrang despite it being an all-boys school, where her unique powers are closely monitored, and she excels in her studies. However, the school’s rigid rules, including its prohibition on note-taking and questioning authority, frustrate her.
While the Durmstrang Headmaster admires her abilities and considers her a promising student, he ultimately concludes that Beauxbatons might better suit her inquisitive nature.
Clara spends her next year at Beauxbatons, where her striking good looks and half-mermaid heritage make her a popular figure among her peers. She earns a spot on the school’s swim team and demonstrates strong academic performance.
However, her penchant for violent spells and dark thoughts occasionally unsettles her teachers. Clara enjoys the curriculum, appreciating its intellectual rigor and structure, but she feels somewhat stifled by the school’s heavy emphasis on etiquette and manners over combat.
As Hogwarts prepares to reopen, Madame Maxime arranges for Clara to transfer there, recognizing that its balanced approach to magic and freedom of exploration is the right fit for her. Before departing, Hagrid surprises Clara by adopting her, sparing her from the foster care system and providing her with a true sense of belonging.
Fun facts about her:
Clara has a beautiful singing voice, naturally coming from being a mermaid, but her mother sang too, so did her father.
Wizard and Sorcerer have different meanings in folklore, so I'm going to differentiate between them. Clara can do magic without needing a spell, wizards need to use a wand/etc. But a wand helps her hone her skills as she’s learning in Hogwarts.
She can use her voice to cause serious damage, and can communicate with any creature, since she's a "beast" herself.
This fic will have no romance as it's a way for me to explore my childhood wonders and whimsy.
We don’t care about Harry in this house. Harry was adopted by the Weasleys after his first year after The Ministry of Magic deemed the Dursleys unfit.
Her main goal is to unite all beast kind and destroy all muggle blooded individuals.
I want to thank the amazing @nyxtaria-dreams for getting me back into Harry Potter, thank you for bringing me back home to Hogwarts :)
I am dumb, stupid, weak and powerless. There’s no pussyfooting around it. It’s easy to put up a brave front. But deep down… I’m uncertain, scared, always have my hackles up like a cat walking on an unlit stove.
It’s why I guess I am so drawn to my Forever Ones.
Protection and power. With power comes protection. And since they desire me, they would protect me, wouldn’t they? Help me be stronger too.
I want to be loved, coveted and cherished like a prized treasure that's kept safe and guarded 24/7. If anyone so much as touches me its jail time. I envy museum exhibits. I am safe with them. No harm will ever come my way.
I just want to be their empty doll and that’s how they like it. I’m not just a pretty face of course, corner me and I will show my fangs too.
Don't I also deserve to be treated with respect, even if I am "stupid" , "weak" or "worthless?"
