tbh and i know someone will hate me for this but while I’ve never bothered to like look into criticisms of wicca I’ve always been inherently repelled by wiccans that approach me 

that being said I don’t see how its a reach to say that Germanic people would have had some form of ritual? As far as I’ve known it (I admit I have only done surface exploration of European craft since they aren’t my people) pretty much every major group of people had traditional/spiritual beliefs? Or does that depend on how we’re defining ‘witch craft’ bc I can see where you’re coming from then.
