Yo why do u hate bisexual women of color
So, I’ve been sitting on this ask since Tuesday, contemplating my response. I have a rather long one written, but I am going to give anon the benefit of the doubt. I am going to assume they were being sincere in their questioning and that they were being informal and vague, because they were in a rush or were being flippant and casual.
So, I’ll be brief.
I don’t hate bisexual women of color. I value and respect them and their communities. And I believe that these women are deserving of greater protections and support considering how, even today, they face exclusionary violence and abuse from both within and without the LGBTQIA community.
Now, that said, I need to ask anon what exactly gave them the impression that I hated bisexual women of color? After all, I believe in dialogue and if I have done something to give a false impression, I would like to correct it.
That said, I would ask anon please be very explicit and clear if they see fit to contact me again. I would also ask that they not rely on hyperbolic-conflations to evoke the idea that fictional characters are in any way equivalent to real, living minority groups whose very real communal history is marked by decades of oppression, violence, and aggressive fetishization by an intensely colonial, patriarchal culture. I personally consider it a form of violence to reduce the breadth and depth of their experience and representation down to a single fandom ship.
If we are talking about fictional characters, we are talking about fictional characters. If we are talking about the lived experience of bisexual women of color, I have further questions for you about your decision to ask this particular question.
