Still from the fan film World's Finest (2004), which was presented as a trailer for a non-existent feature.

It was directed by Sandy Collora, and starred Mike O'Hearn as Superman/Clark Kent, with Clark Bartram returning as Batman/Bruce Wayne.

Bartram had portrayed Batman the previous year in Collora's short Batman: Dead End, wherein the Caped Crusader took on the Joker and a Predator, before finding himself surrounded by more Predators AND xenomorphs from the Alien franchise.

Superman (Mike O'Hearn) and Batman (Clark Bartram) from Sandy Collora's 2004 fan film World's Finest. Based heavily on the comic book continuity of the time, the trailer had the two heroes teaming up against President Lex Luthor and Two-Face. It also borrowed a plot line from their animated team-up by having both heroes' civilian identities vying for Lois Lane's affection.

Unlike Collora's short film Batman: Dead End (2003), wherein the Dark Knight battled a Predator, only to end up surrounded by Predators AND Aliens, World's Finest was presented as a film trailer.

Collora was using both films as auditions to try to generate interest at Warner Brothers to let him make feature films featuring the DC heroes. Sadly, Warners passed, and instead we got the DCEU a few years later.

Thanks for nothing, Warners. As low-budget as it is, I'll take World's Finest over Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice any day.
