Working on the Sorcerer skills right now (and don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about the Settings Book pictures). Just had a very urgent thought...

Consider the following: The skill Burned Stake temporarily turns into Burned Steak on April Fool’s Day, which drops a massively oversized, burnt and still-flaming steak onto your enemies to crush them (also inflicts Burn DoT damage).

After the Catastrophe, there have been attempts to research where the steak comes from, and whether it’s possible to salvage the steak and/or not waste the meat. However, the fact that this effect is only available for 24 hours on one day of the year hinders the investigation greatly.

So, according to Mamare’s class notes, Sorcerers can’t use ranged weapons.

Throwing daggers count as ranged weapons.

Indicus, a Sorcerer, uses daggers that she holds like throwing daggers. (Though we’ve never seen her fight in-person yet, so we have no idea what her actual combat style is like; we’re just told she uses “countless daggers.”)

Well, it probably means that someone somewhere (either Mamare or someone on the anime design team) retconned the fact that Sorcerers can’t equip ranged weapons, at least as far as throwing weapons go. Maybe it’s one of those “relaxed” rules after the Catastrophe?

Sorcerer is one of the twelve classes in Elder Tale and one of the three Magic Attack classes along with Summoner and Enchanter.

I’m still working on skill translations (behind the scenes, so visitors don’t see my messy work), but I’ve pushed my retranslations for the Overview and Sample Builds sections for the Sorcerer page.

I considered that, but Sorcerers can wield regular daggers, just not throwing daggers. And AFAIK Elissa pulled out a regular dagger (at least, not specified as a throwing one).

My best guess is that someone, whether Mamare or the anime design team, figured that it didn’t make any sense for people who can use regular daggers to not be able to use a throwing variant. (Like, how would that work after the Catastrophe? It always slips out of your hand? You can’t even pick it up?)

Ave, oh wise Sage of Miral Lake! For my OC, I have been looking at the sorcerer skills, and one of the less well documentet skills is "Mana Skewer". Sadly, while I did find more or less helpful info about all other skills, this one remains a total mystery to me (apart from guessing its effects from the name...). Do you happen to know anything about what it does?

Unfortunately, the JP wiki (where the skill name was taken from) has literally nothing. Its description says “Manna Skewer,” in English, and that’s it.

It might have been mentioned in the light novels, but I would have to skim every volume to find it.

Edit: Actually, I forgot to check the TRPG. The JP wiki doesn’t really try to reinterpret the TRPG-original skills for an MMO/LH-verse context, which results in some skills having little to no description.

Edit 2: Nope, still nothing. Back to the LN I go!
