Curra's Grill Site Redesign
My first priority in redesigning the Curra's Grill site was to get away from their original logo (1st photo) but use a different form of branding that they already had displayed with the outdoor sign (2nd photo). I recreated the look of the outdoor sign (3rd photo) and implemented it into a new layout for the website (below).
Below is a variation

AND for the grand finale, here is my perfectly coded website...
These are screen shots of my motion piece titled East side Type for the Locating Place project. The idea is to display some unique type that is found on the East Side, connecting the pieces through motion and through the flashing of the lights. All pieces were carefully recreated in illustrator.
East Austin Motion Project
This project was meant to capture the same qualities of East Austin that I focused on in my book—deterioration and rundown objects. I wanted to transition from clean "blueprint-like" line drawings of buildings and objects into their current deteriorated condition. This was slightly over-ambitious because each and every line you see moves independently. With more time I'd like to polish this off further.
INTERACTIVE DESIGN WORK!
I have not yet completed Interactive Design and will not have that work until next spring.
Site Redesign (About.com/Aldus Manutius)
For my site design i drew inspiration from Aldus Manutius and his triangle rags he used for paragraphing. Although i don't think this would function for About.com's website i do find it interesting. Aldus Manutius' work is beautiful and i know i'll look to him for creative energy later one.
Visual Effects, Shapes and Gestalt (Depth/Perception)
The following designs showcase varying levels of depth. Some accomplish depth through through color contrast. Placement is a major factor in portraying a sense of depth in the following designs. The designs are laid out in a two-dimensional setting, but somehow many of them still portray forward-backward space and the concept of distance. I learned a lot about what makes a 3D object look 3D. My design was based on a tunnel.
