Double Chill (Closed RP)

Undyne didn’t screw around. That fish-woman gave the young human woman and her small child a run for their money on the way to their new, blistering hot surroundings. After the fall into the dump in Waterfall, in spite of her own injuries, Kaya had expended a fair amount of her energy trying to heal Frisk like Toriel showed her.
She wasn’t overly good at it, whether it was due to her lack of experience or the distraction that was a broken leg, a possibly cracked rib and possible internal bruising, but no broken bones or internal bleeding for Frisk, so it was enough to keep moving so that was enough for the both of them. But coming up onto Undyne at the entrance to Hotland, Kaya was anything but ready. Too many monsters, too few healing foods... Too many injuries, followed by too many deaths and too much LOADing courtesy of Undyne the Undestructable.
Kaya had spent the entire journey protecting their tiny child, but when it mattered most, when they came up against their strongest threat, Kaya was just too weak to fight or do anything. So it was up to tiny Frisk to step up to bat, and somehow, someway... they succeeded in defending Kaya long enough for them to pick themselves up and hightail it to Hotland.
Allowing Frisk to give Undyne water when she suddenly collapsed from the heat didn’t seem like a good idea, but she left, so... good enough for Kaya, she supposed.
“You... you okay, kiddo?” She weakly murmured as the two sat by the water cooler just trying to rehydrate.
“Uh-huh...” Frisk panted heavily as they tried to catch their breath and rehydrate. They were still shivering; Undyne was their first serious fight where they actually... saw Kaya die. Felt them die. They couldn’t shake the shock of it all just yet. “I think so... Do we... do we keep going?”
“Nowhere else to go but forward... If that lunatic fish left us alone, I guess it’ll mostly be smooth sailing until we get to the Capital,” Kaya sighed as she finished the rest of her water and slowly pushed herself up.
Frisk just quietly nodded as Kaya picked them up and continued on through Hotland. Kaya moved on cautiously with an ever-constant limp in her injured leg as she kept on the lookout for any signs of life, passive of hostile.
“Though, let's try not to tempt fate...”
