“What the characters of the four sisters were we will leave to be found out.”
Just started reading this lovely edition of Little Women. I have only read to chapter four, but I hope to be a Beth or Meg.

I love the pages of this book, they have that old yet crisp feeling to them :) this is one of my most anticipated reads of the year and finally holding it, and seeing just how large the book is is so exciting for me
Book of the Day
“Common Sense” by Thomas Paine
Animal Farm | George Orwell
#75. Emma - Jane Austen
I don't think I have ever met a more obnoxiously annoying character in my many years of reading, granted I have a very vague memory of all the books and characters I've read, but still she stands out in my mind. In any case, Emma just makes me want to grab her by the shoulders, shake her and yell at her about how egotistical she is and how she should just stop meddling in other people's business. But then again, I think Mr Knightley tries to do that throughout the entire novel but Emma is so narrow minded and full of herself that she pays no attention to him. In her meddling she ruined a poor girl's life, for most of the book, because Emma had this grandiose idea of her acquaintances completely oblivious of the truth. Poor Mr. Martin being put down because he was a mere farmer, when really Harriet had nothing to her name and she loved him. I guess that brings out a little bit about society in pre-Victorian England where class, name and assets were the primary elements in any marriage. I guess in the end being herself rejected by Frank Churchill helped ground her a little bit and finally eliminate that cloud of greatness that she felt she had around her. Emma was finally able to realize her feelings for Mr. Knightley and learn that they were in fact returned and thus learn what actual love was, not a mere shallow infatuation. What is good too is that, as with every other Jane Austen novel, she found her true love at the end, Harriet did too and everyone else Emma meddled with also had a happy ending. So in a way I guess there was nothing at all to worry about, but still going through the novel and reading how Emma didn't just leave things be and develop on their own was very frustrating. All in all, it was a good novel. Personally it left me a bit infuriated more than once, but it was all done in good fun.
